Couleur foncée allant vers le noir, bonne quantité de mousse beige de nature persistante. Arômes de cacao, de chocolat brun, de noix exotiques et de malt rôti. Les saveurs fruitées et de malt rôti s’expriment et s’harmonisent plutôt bien. Faible et adéquate touche d’alcool présente parmi la finale sèche. Texture poudreuse, corps vineux. Ma meilleure expérience avec les produits de cette brasserie jusqu’à présent. GABF 2005.
On tap @ Papago. Pours opaque black with thin brown head. Smell is coffee, chocolate, malt, some nuts and dark fruit. Draft at Papago, served in a pint glass. One of only two beers of theirs on as they prepare for a Belgian fest. Pours a deep, dark brown with some amber highlights and a beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, earth, toasted nuts, and a hint of brown sugar. Same goes for the flavor. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a bit of a flat, roasty mouthfeel. Like cold coffee. Draft at Papago. Pours dark brown with a thin khaki head. Not a lot on the nose. Slight roasted quality in the tongue. Pretty boring and nondescript I’m sorry to say.

Draft. Pours black color with a moderate frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Heavy toasted dark chocolate malt, earthy and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark chocolate bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This beer exceeded my expectations.

On tap @ Papago in AZ. Listed an American black ale, so I was expecting a black IPA. It isn’t. Dark brown, opaque but with tawny highlights. Aroma is principally coffee and roast. Pours opaque black with small head that quickly diminishes. . Mild carbonation and chewy palate. Very little hop influence. Moderate finish. Roasted malt with hints of coffee. Very drinkable porter. I like it!
