Paradox Beer Skully Barrel No. 30 (Salty Melons)

RATINGS: 36   MEAN: 3.92/5.0   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.83/5   SEASONAL: Series   EST. CALORIES: 267   ABV: 8.9%
COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the Gose style of salted sour beers, this sour mash golden ale was aged in white wine barrels. Next it spent extended aging on generous amounts of watermelon juice, which comes through in the nose and on the palette. The result is tart, dry, and luscious, like a ripe salted chunk of watermelon in a glass.

Salty watermelon taste and smell. Enjoyable, but I would have like more watermelon and less salt. Medium body, medium carbonation, and mild foam.

Bottle. Clear medium gold color, with a fizzy off white head. Fruity, maybe some watermelon, not getting much salt, a bit tart, and some yeast. Ok.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours dark translucent gold with not much head. Aroma is light watermelon - not much else. Med body, almost. Flavor is like Hungarion green grape mixed with watermelon. It’s a bit tart, not very salty. Pleasent enough. Fairly dry finish.

Bottle from Whole Foods, Sacramento. Pours dark golden with no head and a light green grape aroma. There is a delicate moderately sour white wine flavor with some green grape too. Easy to drink and tasty. Sort of a gose I guess.
