(650ml bottle) Purchased at Hillside Liquors for $6.60. Pours a quick dissipating beige head atop a black body. Nose of resiny pine hops. Good hop front with a cream dark malt flavour. My first bottled Parallel 49 brew, and I’m very satisfied.
Dark brown. Bubbly head. Chocolate, orange and a herbal note kind of like sage. Sweet up front, then turning to a bitter chocolate note. The hop flavour is understated, balanced pine and orange, allowing more nuanced malts like toffees to come through as well as chocolatey, roasty notes. I like the style in general, anyway, but this is a good example that maybe won’t get credit because of the small-bottle-in-a-seasonal-gift-pack format. cmacklin (1210) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 16, 2016
341ml bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a red hue and a medium, creamy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, caramel, grapefruit and pine. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and grapefruit with a dry, bitter, hoppy, pine resin finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Pretty tasty. fiulijn (20806) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 5, 2016

Dark brown color, near black, medium sized beige head. Lean Brown Ale with bready malts, some rye bread, delicate fruity esters, and moderate resiny hops; yes, there are differences between CDA and Black IPA. Good beer.
From the 2016 parallel 49 seasons greetings beervent calendar. Nice bitter dark beer. Excellent rubyroo (146) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 3, 2016
Aroma of fruity citrus hops, toasted malt and pine, flavour follows. with a hint of chocolate. Palate is medium bodied with a bitter and slight acrid aftertaste. Overall- an enjoyable Cascadian Dark Ale that is well balanced.

Rating #1387 13.12.2014 341mL Bottle #13 in the CC/P49 Mystery Box Pours jet black with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is a violent clash between toasted malt, and floral piney hops. Taste is extremely hoppy, tempered with a pleasant coffee, chocolate, burnt sugar sweetness that disguises any alcohol on the palate and rounds out the hoppy bitterness, and is beyond refreshing. Unreal hoppy black beauty. andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 6, 2015
Pours a semi clear really dark brown with a small tan head and a few spots of lace. Aroma is grainy, cocoa, citrus, pine, roasted malts, and coffee. Flavour is pine, citrus, grainy, roasted malts, med bitterness, and a moderately dry finish. Reimer96 (1743) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 6, 2015
Pours an almost opaque black with a frothy and lacey light brown head. Aroma of juicy citrus hops, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and pine...all in a good balance. Some grain huskiness present. Taste is roasted malts, juicy citrus hops, coffee, chocolate, pine and light nuttiness. Great cascadian that’s in good balance but the grain husk in the aroma is throwing it off. Bottle, advent calendar 2014. Very dark brown, beige head, nice lacy retention. Citrus and hints of wood, dark roast, terrifically balanced, almost juicy hop character. A very pleasant surprise here! darrennelson12 (455) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 31, 2014
In bottle ... this was OK. Not really an IPA fan, so I found this to be more hoppy than I would like, especially in a darker beer. I would not buy again
