Bomber between five at the July 2016 Shrewsbury Bottle share: bought by me while in California. Very dark brown with big beige head. Aroma was of caramel semi-sweet malts with a mini sourness . The taste was not as sour as the nose intimated and a smooth, chocolate flavoured Brown Ale was enjoyed indeed. Highly carbonated but overall a very pleasant beer from a part of Canada unknown to be beer wise. minutemat (5420) - Shrewsbury, Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUL 13, 2016
Bottle @ monthly tasting at Chez Sophie, July 16, courtesy of bladdock. Many thanks! Pours very dark brown with big off-brown bubble bath head. Aroma is smooth caramel malts. A bit over-carbonated and a bit thin, but nice chocolate malts lurk underneath. Not bad. Lubiere (13796) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 18, 2015
A clear dark brown ale with a thick frothy mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light grassy hops, light nutty notes, OK. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with light coffee notes, nutty notes, light bodied, a bit cloying. Bottle from LCBO. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - AUG 11, 2015
This was poured into an English pub glass.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy dark brown color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some light messy lacing here and there.
The smell started off with some nice nutty smooth to caramel toasty and toffee combining and allowing a light coffee to blend nicely.
The taste was mainly sweet and allowing a nice roasted nuttiness to blend nicely. There’s barely any aftertaste but a sweet nutty finish running about.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs nicely as there’s a good somewhat creamy smoothness over my tongue.
Overall, for an English Brown ale this one is really good. I’d definitely have this again.

22 oz. Pours a clear, deep chestnut with a thin film of creamy foam. Aroma is dark toffee and cocoa with a light note of tart berry/grape mix; kind of like a Tootsie Pop. Tastes the same, with enough earthy cocoa, spicy dry grass and cardboard on the finish to provide a decent balance. Near-medium body is definitely malty as per the style, but not sticky and has a smooth low-medium carbonation. sulawang (1155) - - FEB 1, 2015
Visual: Pours beer bottle brown with a smallish dissipating head, ringed retention, hardly visible sporadic streams in the center.
Nose: sweet caramel malts, light roast (lvl-6)-pungency
Attack: crisp, cola
Mid-palate: fizzy-tingly, (lvl-2)-sweetness, (MAIN) roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, light cola
Finish: malty-cola finish, barely detectable hops.
Summary: Mostly cola and chocolate malts, hops are super subtle. andyhwcinc (1884) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 19, 2015
Purchased at Binnys in Chicago, IL, enjoyed at home on a lazy Monday night. This was discounted by more than 50% off, and I can see why. Appearance is cola brown with a light white rim. Aroma of maple syrup, chocolate, ovaltine, and caramel. Taste just isn't good, very carbonated syrupy flavor, not enjoyable. MunBro (942) - St. Albert, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 10, 2015
Not bad, but Parallel 49 is usually a lot better. Pretty typical ale, kind of flat and watery with some malt and coco notes. bb (9241) - Alamo, California, USA - JAN 1, 2015
Bottle. Dark brown beer with a tan head. Malt and light toffee aroma. Caramel and light citrus flavor. Medium bodied. Caramel and light citrus linger with light darker malts.
