COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We put the kettle on for a long boil and this Scottish wee heavy is what we got. Rich Caramel is complemented by sea salt for a complex intense flavour. Another? Aye

650ml bottle pours brown in color with a finger and a half of off-white head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by caramel. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with a mild citrus and herbal bitterness. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. An interesting interpretation of the style and definitely worth a try.

Good resemblance of a Scottish ale. Caramel adds some sweetness to an already sweet medium caramel malt base. Nice contrast with the salt to balance out a bit. Semi-creamy texture. Was good to try, but Id go other directions for this style.

Once again I was not disappointed by Parallel 49 Brewery. This salty scot is my new go to beer. Relatively dark, with heavy caramel malts and roasted flavours. Sweet, but not overbearing. A great beer.

Reddish-amber with a thick head, some lacing, and a whisky, fruity nose. Malty and creamy mouthfeel with caramel noticeable early, and finishing with caramel, whisky, and salt.

Another solid ale from the Brewers in BC. I liked the taste and the kick it had. Wasnt overpowering withthe hops.

Can from Beach Liquor Fort Walton. Pours a nice caramel brown color with a thin khaki head. The aroma is pleasant malt with a hint of yeast and wet hops. Flavor starts with dark roasted malt then maybe a touch of sweetness and salinity and it finishes lightly bitter like burnt coffee. Okay.

can @ Calandros / Baton Rouge LA --- Aroma of caramel malt. Hazy amber brown, beige head that sticks at a thick cover, hanging lace strands. Taste is malt, medium fizz, light hops, and then a gradual move toward sweet caramel as it moves through a long finish. Slight dip back to bitter at the very end. Maybe a little too sweet, but complex and easy to drink.

650ml bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with red hue and a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, toffee and vanilla. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, toffee, butterscotch, vanilla, light roast, chocolate and a hint of salt in a dry finish. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Nice.

12oz can from Xroads. Poured a clear mahogany body under a dense super light beige creamy head. Aroma is meh....notes of brown paper bag, dry caramel, sea salt, grainy chocolate malts. Flavor is all that plus earth, peat and a touch of older rotten banana. Medium body at best with stingy carbonation and a quicker fading aftertaste.

Decent looking caramel colored beer with a thin tan head. Sweet nose of salted caramel, vanilla, and toffee--it smells like candy. Flavor is semi-sweet, but not over-powering, with salted caramel, toffee, and butterscotch finished with a hint of smoky bitterness. Definitely enjoyable brown ale.

Can from Taniguchi. A sea salted caramel version of a scotch ale that fills my thistle glass with amber brown goodness. The light beige heads doesnt linger but does leave a ring of film behind. The aroma is syrupy caramel, bread pudding and salt. Medium to full bodied with a sharp burnt toffee caramel then a mouth-smacking salt edge melding into chocolate notes. This pretty much nails salted caramel with charred/burnt accents but it feels like its a touch cloying or artificial. Yep, I just checked the label and the salt is real but the caramel flavor is fake... well from some kind of concentrate. Shame but its still a pretty good brew. It definitely reminds me of a bunch of other of these "food" type brews but I cant recall which one, maybe one of those Rogue voodoo donuts ones?
