Pour this medium-bodied Imperial IPA for a bit of snap and crackle - and plenty of hop. Brewed with Motueka hops from New Zealand, it starts dry and finishes crisp.

650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden colour with a small foamy head. Aroma of sweet caramel, butter, dill and some fruitiness. Flavour of herbal bitterness, caramel, dried fruitiness, grass and some mild yeastiness. Medium bodied and dry mouthfeel. Probably not as fresh as it should be.

650ml bottle from Whole Foods Bowery, New York

Pours dark orange with a sticky white head. Aroma of sweet caramely malts, toffee, some fruits and aged hops. Taste is sweet, caramely and stuffy with loads of toffee, some grassy hops and fruits. Finish is stuffy, sweet and caramely with some malts and toffee. Doesn’t feel very fresh, way too sweet for my taste.

65 cl bottle.
Pours clear pale golden color with a large white head. Piney, resinous hoppy aroma, some caramel there too, sweet orange also. Orange, pine, some resinous hops on the flavor, caramel-y malty hints. Feels a bit old. Meh.

66 cl bottle @ tiong, no BBE info
Aroma has juicy and fruity hops; grapefruit and mango. Flavour has gluey tones, graperuit, tropical fruits and touch of alcohol. One (slightly) boozy fruit juice.

[6001-20131023] Tap. Caramel orange aroma has a strange herbal note to it. Hazy, orange body with a quick foamy white head. Hoppy sweetened leaves and citrus lychee notes in the flavour. Medium body. Lovely, great balance of fruit and hops and bitterness. (9/4/9/4/17) 4.3

650 ml bottle. Pours a very murky and flaky orange brown with a thick, resilient white head. Aroma is crisp, very fruity (pineapple, citrus, passionfruit). Flavor is very fruity, citrusy, tropical, orange and mango juice, passionfruit. Finish is not so bitter. Reminiscent of citrus. Lingering slight citrus bitterness. Medium body, weak to average carbonation.

My Bottom Line:
Oranges, flowers and resins ride alcohol and hefty sugars in this oily Imperial IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A frothy head of foam tops the murky orange.
-Alcohol is a bit too prominent for my tastes in the style.
-Even though they used a lot of rice in here to dry the body out, it seems they’ve also thrown in a healthy dose of caramel malts... In any case, the body is not close to feeling dry, sadly...
-Drinkability is understandably low.
-Hops could be brighter in the flavor profile. But this bottle may not be the freshest too... No way to tell since there is no date on the bottle...
-The finish is rather limp for any kind of IPA.
-Execution and clarity-wise, this is far from the quality of Flying Fish’s own Rice Imperial IPA.

650ml bottle. Hazy dirty golden body, medium beige head with good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of oranges, flowers, apricots, pineapple. Taste is on the sweet side: orange liquor, floral hops, pineapple. Enjoyable, but sweet.
