COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pour this medium-bodied Imperial IPA for a bit of snap and crackle - and plenty of hop. Brewed with Motueka hops from New Zealand, it starts dry and finishes crisp.

Bottle: Poured a hazy yellow color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet malt notes with quite a bit of residual sugar is offset by some floral citrus hoppy notes. Taste is also dominated by loads of residual sugar with some citrusy hoppy notes. Boyd is full with limited filtration and medium carbonation. Too much residual sugar for my own taste.

650ml bottle. Pours an opaque orange with a thin, off white head. Aroma is slightly sweet with notes of bread, caramel, rice I’m guessing, pine, tropical fruit, and a hint of resin. Taste is bitter with lots of resin, pine, and bread, with milder notes of caramel and a alcohol taste and warmth. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Resiny/syrupy in the mouth but still drinkable with a dry finish. Overall pretty tasty and interesting. Bready with lots of resin, tropical fruits, and alcohol.

Big bottle in a stem glass. Pours hazy golden with a lacy, white head. Aroma of citrusy and fruity and floral hops, some pale and light caramel malts, hints of dough, and some alcohol. Flavor the same with a nice hoppiness that is sort of taken away from by the alcohol on the finish. Average texture. If this beer wasn’t so alcoholic, it’d be great.

Bel couleur dorée trouble avec un col blanc assez résistant. Une DIPA axé sur l’alcool, agrumes,résine, floral. Respectable mais sans plus.

Alpha10 (830) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 12, 2014
2014/10/11 - Pours a hazy, burnt orange/amber colour with a thick, soapy, off white head that slowly reduces to a lingering surface film. Moderate lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, tropical fruits, citrus fruit and a touch of pine. Taste follows nose; sweet caramel malts, mango, peach, orange and mild pine. Mouthfeel is oily with low carbonation and a mildly warming finish (even though the booze taste is not present). Enjoyed all of the flavours, but I think the beer would have beer more enjoyable with more/sharper carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours very hazy orange, thin dense white head with some lacing. Aroma of mango, resin, peach, plum? Body fairly thin for a big beer (rice has it making sense), mango up front followed by some pine, grapefruit, gets boozy fast, finishes fast, and fairly clean, given how boozy it is only moments before.

Bottle from LCBO. Aroma of resin, pine, and some citrus. Booze as well. Taste is quite sweet, with light fruit notes (peach), and a clean finish with no booze or bitterness. Smooth body. Drinkable, but not my favorite 2xIPA.

650 mL bottle. Pours really hazy orange with lots of small sediment. Very nice beige head and nice lacing. American strong ale in the nose, and ouble IPA in the mouth. Strong orange and mango from the hops. Only problem is that it’s a little thin, from the rice I suppose. But they tell you that up front, so it’s no surprise. Nice beer.

Gorbalev (3000) - Ontario, CANADA - SEP 30, 2014
Bottle, rare foray to an LCBO that is not Embrun - this time 10th line. Cloudy medium to dark yellow, good size frothy white head with lacing. Fruity aroma, strong, with hints of sticky malt sweetness, some alcohol, and a hint of staleness. Nice tropical fruit taste - I love this hop, but it is better served with less body and alcohol. Tons of pineapple. Body is thick, in need of more carbonation - it is almost flat. Nice taste with a short dry papery finish. There is tons to like here, but when amped up this high and with this body, it detracts rather than adds. Anyway, happy to find and try this - love the label and name.

Poured from a bottle, hazy golden color with a thin white head. Dank stone fruit aroma like over ripe peaches. Crackery malt flavor, big lemon lime hop flavor.
