Dark brown, almost black in colour. Bigger brownish head. Aroma of citrus, bittersweet with a bitter finish. Too bitter for me.

Bottle. Black with virtually no head. Lovely malty flavour with lots of body. Strong mouthfeel.A brilliant example of this style which I found very enjoyable.

After years, having just missed the last bottle for sale in Australia in 2012, I have finally managed to drink this Czech Baltic Porter – you never know when they will kill these products or breweries, eh? I sneaked out of the tour my customers were doing through the Malá Strana and ran to the Galerie Piva and got a couple of these. Later on I found it somewhere in the old town…yes, the Prague Beer Museum. Well, over those four years I lowered my expectations about this one, after so many deceptions with so-called “Eastern European” BPs. Yes, I know the Czech Republic is not Eastern Europe, but I gotta say that, in the end, the experience was far from being as disappointing as I feared. The aroma is a bit boozey, to start with. There’s a touch of rum, fruits, maybe cassis, molasses and malt. It pours cola brown, to be cola black, oily, denser in the glass, with a beige head that could be a bit creamier. The flavour is bitter. Molasses bitter. And sweet. And salty. Yes, it’s liquorice. That salty sweetness of a good Dutch liquorice. A touch of Karamalz, syrup, berries, toffee and chocolate too. There is a bit of that oily feel, and I would for sure call it full bodied. The alcohol is quite prevalent and you cannot get away from it, as ever present as the Golem is in the Josefov. You cannot drink this too fast. It must be taken calmly, thoroughly enjoyed as one should do to the city of Prague. Well, one needs the right company in Prague. I had customers with me in Prague, for Christ’s sake! Customers who would have been happy to be drinking Heineken. Gotta have the right company the next time.

25.11.2016. 0,5l Bottle. From Praha nov. 16. Black colour with tan head. Rich beer with lots of aromas of dark malts. Very nice body wit richness, strenght, alcohol and dark malts. Notes of fruit, sweet but not sweet. Sharp. Very good.

Aroma: Medium roasted, malasses aromas on first sniff. Licorice, more molasses. Appearance: Brilliant, very dark brown body with red highlights. Large brown head, fair retention. Flavour: Medium-high molasses, licorice, tobacco. Medium-high bitterness to balance the sweetness, lifted by the roasted malts. Dry finish with lingering molasses. An alcoholic note comes in as the beer warms up. Mouthfeel: Medium body. Medium carbonation, creamy. Overall: Smooth, rich sipping beer. 500 ml bottle, poured. 9C. Baltic Porter

Butelka. W przewężeniu szkła piwo barwy brązowej, klarowne. Piana obfita, drobniutka, jasnobeżowa, z dobrym lacingiem. Aromat dość ulotny. Wyraźne nuty palone oraz słodkiej kawy zbożowej i czekolady deserowej. W miarę ogrzewania wychodzi lekki alkohol. W smaku oprócz umiarkowanej słodyczy dominuje nader łagodna i niezbyt kwaskowa paloność, przypieczona skórka ciemnego chleba oraz kawa i czekolada z aromatu. Posmak palono - kawowy. Goryczka niska. Ładnie ukryty alkohol. W ogólnym odczuciu łagodne, umiarkowanie pełne, odpowiednio nagazowane. bardzo przyjemne. Bardziej przypomina mi jednak mocniejsze tmave.

Bottle @Restaurace U Dvou Panu. Pours very dark brown, slight red tinge, tan head. Nose is blandish but with some sweetness and cinnamon. Taste is sweet, chocolate, toffee, caramel. Its more like a dark lager than a porter but i liked it.

0,5l bottle. Dark brown colour with medium sized quickly disappearing beutiful beige head. Aroma: Chocolate, black currant, caramel notes of coffee bean. Taste: Very sweet start with a sweet and light bitter mouthfeel. Also has some salty caracter in the mouth and very tasty. Oily texture. Medium body with medium carbonation. Long sweet/sour finish. My best porter by far.

Butelka 0,33l. Aromat czekoladowy, kawowy, lekko alkoholowy. Barwa niemal czarna, pod światło wyraźne rubinowe refleksy. Piana beżowa o średniej obfitości, dość drobna. Redukuje się do cienkiego kożuszka. Smak lekko słodki i umiarkowanie gorzki; zbliżony do aromatu - gorzka czekolada, kawa, likier. Alkohol dość dobrze zamaskowany. Wysycenie niskie.
