Brewed with Louisiana sugarcane! A new Louisiana tradition in the works. Crisp and easy to drink, this sparingly hopped American wheat focuses attention on the understated sweet remnants of sugarcane.

12 oz bottle. (Marcello’s Wine Market) Lafayette, LA.
Clear reddish golden colour with a small white head. Wheat, cookie sweetness and mild hops in the aroma. The flavour is rather mild. There’s some wheat, sweetness and... not much more. Unfortunately a bit boring. American Wheat Ale ain’t my thang.

cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 19, 2014
On tap @ Bamboula’s New Orleans. Pours a murky orange appearance with a cream colored head. Citrus zest, a little bready, papaya, orange aroma. Moderately sweet. Lightly bitter. Refreshing. Fairly standard fare but it hits the spot after being in the sun.

On tap @ Lüke’s, New Orleans.medium gold, thick white head that laces generously. Simple, wheaty profile that is slightly sweeter than average, but clean and decent enough for what it is.

So i went looking for this, on my way to New Orleans from Houston I researched where i could find some on the way- ended up at Prejeans Restaurant in Lafayette,LA at about 8am, so my mom orders a coffee, I order a pint of the Canebrake from my friendly black waiter, goes down nicely.. then knowing i have a big day, i say maybe on another pint and the waiter brings me another- hell, ok.. and bring me some beignets!! .. . . Pours a deep gold, light haze .. light foam, got better as it warmed .. . aroma of sugar cane, bamboo, very light molasses, caramel, and yeast .. . nicely balanced .. . quite easy to put down .. . and damn enjoyable ..
