Brewed with Louisiana sugarcane! A new Louisiana tradition in the works. Crisp and easy to drink, this sparingly hopped American wheat focuses attention on the understated sweet remnants of sugarcane.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2011 On tap at the greenroom in downtown lafayette. Poured a beautiful honey gold color with small creamy looking head that left some lacing behind. Aroma was really nice. Had some floral and honey notes. Taste was even better, nice grainy wheat background with subtle, yet bright honey sweetness, floral, citrus, and spice throughout. Good mouthfeel for the style, had some substance, but not too thick, as it should be for a beer like this. I could drink several of these. Really great beer. One of my favorites. I’m so glad we have a local brewery that can brew beer like this!

Parish Canebrake has a thick, frothy, white head and a somewhat hazy, golden appearance with some lacing and not too many streaming bubbles. The aroma is of sweet malt and maybe sugar. Taste is of sweet bread, sugar, and a touch of bitterness, but not much. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and Parish Canebrake finishes mellow and very refreshing. Overall, this is an excellent, sweet, flavorful beer. I strongly recommend it. RJT

Clear golden amber color with small head. Wheaty biscuity aroma. Mellow dry flavor. Very very smooth, and very thirst quenching. Best wheat beer I’ve had in a long time.

I frequently enjoy this beer. Find it to be much more enjoyable from tap than in the bottle. Definitely maintains a sweet flavor, but (particularly when served on tap) there’s a notable taste of herbs that doesn’t linger for very long. People who appreciate lighter-colored beer should certainly give this one a shot.

Nice Louisiana Wheat Ale, small hop taste, crisp finish. Would drink this again, even though I am not a hoppy beer drinker

On tap at Coyote Ugly Saloon in New Orleans. A hazy, reddish brown-amber ale with a resilient white head. Smell is cane sugar, touch of banana. Taste is banana, cloved, wheat, brown sugar. Some herbal bitterness in the finish. Lingering sweet candy post-finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Super good wheat ale!

So i went looking for this, on my way to New Orleans from Houston I researched where i could find some on the way- ended up at Prejeans Restaurant in Lafayette,LA at about 8am, so my mom orders a coffee, I order a pint of the Canebrake from my friendly black waiter, goes down nicely.. then knowing i have a big day, i say maybe on another pint and the waiter brings me another- hell, ok.. and bring me some beignets!! .. . . Pours a deep gold, light haze .. light foam, got better as it warmed .. . aroma of sugar cane, bamboo, very light molasses, caramel, and yeast .. . nicely balanced .. . quite easy to put down .. . and damn enjoyable ..
hey nick on the webcam! .. does graham have a mohawk?? why yes! .. yes i do!!!
