An aggressive, tropical NZ hopped aroma gives way to the rich, copper coloured malt base and a huge lingering bitterness to finish. In an ode to its ancestors, we’ve used all English malts in the grist and a bold English bittering hop in the boil.

Smells and looks great. Good hop presence but just too bitter, making the beer unbalanced - you could only have one. Still a good beer overall.

Bottle. Just hazy amber with a modest beige head. Pungent grassy/ tropical/ zesty citrus Kiwi hop aroma. Lots of biting aromatics, meek plainish caramel, thumpingly bitter finish. Bit of a chainsaw on a chopstick, this one.

I was expecting to have a numb tongue with this name. However the bitterness is subtle (it’s there but just perfectly balanced with the malt). A great example of a NZ IPA obviously influenced by APA’s

Very nice, every day IPA with a great balance and only a slight bitterness.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2018 Massive citrus aroma in an amber copper pour. Hop forward balance with a resiny fruity caramel body and sustained bitter finish. An excellent local (NZ) example of the style (WCIPA).

Has it really taken me this long to review BitterBitch? Firstly, I am pleased to note the ubiquity of the beer on taps in Wellington. Secondly, I am also pleased to note the lusty hopping of this beer that made a decision not to have another while there were other beers to review all the more difficult. Pleasant niffs of grapefruit and resin abound, carried over intot he flavours of this light golden coloured pint. Plenty of zesty bitterness carries this beer on the palate. A good exemplar of the style and so I was doubly pleased to see it in more bars than mainstream lagers.

Dark amber-brown and hazy. Nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, crystal malt, taste is lightly hoppy, med bitterness that is quite clean. Less crystal than the aroma, though it comes out more in the finish. Good balance.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2013 330ml bottle.Very nice. If I blind tasted this I would have guessed it was an APA. Delicious fruity, resiny, piney hop flavour. Hop aroma just keeps on giving. Good bitterness, essence of tangerine or grapefruit peel in the aftertaste. Re-rate: I’ve had about a dozen of these now and I’m really starting to think of it as my All-Terrain-Vehicle of beers. It tastes good any time with anything, it’s a steadfast rock of a beer and I love it.

Nice full hopped beer that is not overtly bitter. Parrotdog seem to be making beers that are very drinkable, but I do question if they are "special" enough that people fall in love with them.

2 litre Growler from brewery drunk over two days. Fresh hoppy aroma. Bitterness and malt nicely balanced. Quite a full body but very drinkable.
