As black as the ace of spades in body with an inch of tan atop. Head holds for the length and laces well. There is a sweet and musty, almost earthy and dusty aroma to it hinting at topsoil, cocoa, vanillin, sultanas and raisins with a little peppery spice. On the palate it is bitter and spicy from the get-go. Phenolic, peppery with lashings of cocoa and bitter 85%+ chocolate. Quite creamy and full in body with a smooth richness and lengthy bitter spice finish. The savoury fruits and earthy tones of the aroma fill it out. This is an interesting stout. Not hugely flavoured or aromatic it points more towards the subtle nuances. I like it. Sessionable and pleasing. (33cL, no date stamp, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Pours a very dark brown with a fluffy light tan head. Nose is coffee, caramel, red fruits. Flavor is burnt toast, coffee, rich chocolate notes, toffee, honey, hazelnut. Lovely silky mouthfeel, this beer coats your palate and lingers on for a long time. Very rounded mid to late palate which is really pretty impressive.
