Leighton (21239) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 27, 2013
Bottle at home in London - picked up at Borough Wines Wilton Way. Pours mostly clear yellow, highly effervescent, with a huge, frothy white head. Delicate dry dough in the nose, plenty of lemony citrus zest, hints of hay. Light sweet flavor with light biscuity pale malts, bitter lemon rind, a bit of spicy yeast, citrus zest. Light bodied with average to lively carbonation. Clean, moderately dry finish, more delicate and dry doughy pale malts, some bitter citrus rind and straw, slight flinty minerals. Delicious stuff. Effortlessly drinkable. Another winning grisette from Partizan. Meilby (11495) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUN 23, 2013
Draught @ Haand Ølfestival 2013Scopey (14723) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 20, 2013
Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, wheat, citrus, yeast and pepper. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with and long pepper, wheat and slightly dry finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottle from Partizan. Not to be confused with the citrus edition! It pours pale yellow with a fluffy white head. The nose is dough, orange, sweet tangerine, grapefruit, herbel and spicy notes. The taste is rather peppery, dough, pithy citrus, straw, paper, decent bitterness and faint floral notes with a dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation. I really like the citra on the nose, but the tastes doesn’t quite live up to it. A rather refreshing beverage nonetheless. jamestulloch (4109) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 17, 2013
Aroma: Custard, lemon, vine tomatoes and white pepper.
Appearance: Hazy pale golden body with a medium white head. Light carbonation. Nice lacing.
Taste: Lemon, orange, grapefruit, white grape and yeast. Sharp and juicy with a hint of peppery spice in the finish. Lovely.
Palate: Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft carbonation fizz.
Overall: Bright, fresh and fruity - this beer is outstanding. It seems like Partizan’s speciality style is Saison. The three I’ve had from this brewery have all been fantastic, but this one tops the lot. As a side note, it reminds me of a yeasty, peppery version of Buxton’s SPA.
