On tap at Haand Festival. It pours a dark brown body, topped by a small, dark beige head leaving some lacings. Charcoal, roasted malts, burnt notes and some licorice in the aroma. The flavor has the same charcoalish, burnt thing found in the aroma, with some licorice, a little sweetness and some bitterness. Full-bodied, dry and nicely carbonated. Lasting finish. A really tasteful and pleasant stout, although a bit more burnt than I normally prefer them. 130525 jtclockwork (16581) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 26, 2013

(Damn - my notes disappeared when I had made my first rating.) On tap at Haand Beer Festival 2013, Drammen. Sampled before I had the barrel aged version. Appeared drier than the BA version, and lacks of course the oaky notes - otherwise it is much the same.

330ml bottle. Pours thick, deep black and looks like a stout should do. Strong cocoa and dark chocolate aroma, which comes through well, there’s also treacle and brown sugar deep in the mix, dark fruit and the expected rich roast. It drinks so smoothly, hides the strength so well and reminds me why I love stouts when they’re like this. Rob_D_UK (1369) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAY 15, 2013

33cl bottle. Black with small, tanned head. Nose : black chocolate with coffee bean. Roasted and smoky aromas of malt. Vanilla. Orange peel. Sip : oily and medium thick body. Light carbonation. Sweet, roasted and smoked with notes of cocoa. Gets bitter smoked and barnyard finish. Well hopped in the meantime. Bitter hops mingle with bitter, roasted malts. Quite nice.
