330ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Pours golden orange with a large foamy white head. Aroma of stingy ripe fruits, yeast, stuffy apricot and spicy notes. Taste is carbonated, yeasty and heavy with ripe fruits, stingy apricot and warming alcohol. Finish is heavy, stuffy and sweetish with loads of ripe fruits, yeast and hints of spices. A bit unbalanced.

330ml bottle from Beermerchants.com. Hazy pale yellow brown, good head. Woody yeasty lemon grain aroma. Sweet and sour lemon biscuit yeast flavour. Bitter afteraste. Watery and does not feel like an 8% beer.

Bottle from the brewery. Been in my fridge for a while. Seems its doing nicely. Colour is rich amber, some clarity but you can’t see through the glass. Quite oily and slick in the glass. Big white head that dissipates to thin. Nose is yeasty, strong Belgian ale, ripe fruit yeast esters, banana, prune raisin and some tropical fruit pineapple, touch of bubblegum, pungent yeast and alcohol. Taste is strong fruity yeast esters, ripe fruit, pale grain malt, strong alcohol. Clean and crisp but strong lingering flavours. Potent and very accomplished Belgian ale. Mouthfeel is touch oily. On the finish there’s some lemon citrous, tangy yeast esters and alcoholic bite.

Ragnampiza (751) - Rome / Lecce, ITALY - FEB 10, 2014
330 ml bottle from Ales By Mail, served in a Teku glass. Bottled on 19-09-2013. Crystal clear pale yellow colour, with a huge, fluffy and forever lasting white head. Lots of tiny bubbles streaming up from the base of the glass. Great lacing. Very sweet and intense aroma, ripe bananas, moderately spicy, a bit of freshly cut grass, earthy belgian yeast and just a hint of alchool. Very sweet in the mouth as well, lots of honey and sugar taste, well spiced (cinnamon/star anise), the alchool is extremely well hidden with no warming sensation in the throat. Lively carbonation, creamy texture and medium body. A bit cloying and less dry than what I seek in these type of beers, but not bad at all.
