Op de fles 50cl te hotel hengshan picardie te Shanghai. Donkere kleur. Witte schuimkraag. Eerste smaakimpressie : wauw! Koffie, koolzuur, bittertje. kidmartinek (5007) - austin, Texas, USA - JAN 17, 2014
Darker, but not nessesarily dark. What’s impressive is the head lasts forever on the Chinese made German brew. The aroma is earth and dried straw. Adequate bubbles maintain the head. Really a pleasure to drink. Provides the illusion of flavor while maintaining no body. I must say... the Chinese really know how to masquerade as German braumeisters amongst other things. sailracer (486) - Massachusetts, USA - NOV 9, 2013
Tap. Had this at the Paulaner restaurant in Shanghai. It has a mild flavor up front that evolves into a very nice malty aftertaste. Just the right amount of bitterness. Pretty good, overall. dreamflower (793) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JUL 22, 2012
Kind of oddly brown colour. Sweet, some flavour. Not too bad, but not my favourite by any means. northropfrye (3743) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JUL 22, 2012
Apart from the ugly iced-tea brown appearance, this was an alright beer. Malty and sweet and refereshing.

Tap @ Brewpub in Pudong. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, yeast, caramel. Taste is malt, yeast, caramel, nuts. Medium body, soft carbonation. 150112 Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 21, 2010
Dark brown-colored with little yellow head. Mildly chocolaty aroma with thin flowery note. Medium bodied. Flavor is more grassy with hops and thin chocolate, good flavor. Aftertaste still has this flowery note. Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 28, 2010
Draft @ brewpub. Murky burnt umber brown with stable off-white head. Yeasty sweet aroma. Granular, thick, sticky palate. Sticky, tacky, yeasty boring beer. Drinkable but disappointing. Oakes (19549) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 20, 2010
Dark cloudy tan colour - not really dunkel at all. Thin head. Yeasty aroma with lots of bready malts. Yeasty character, lacks Germanic cleanliness. Maybe a hint of dark fruit in there. A decent body but by no means does this compare with Munich. SJP (483) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 17, 2003
This was money. Nice and malty, with a creamy head and nice swet finish. This one was really good. But it was 105 yuan (12.75 USD) for a freakin liter. That is more expensive in the states for god sakes. But well worth it in China, if only for a treat.
