Bottle. Malt and banana aroma. Cloudy brown color. Moderate hops bitterness with light malt flavor with only a hint of fruit. Not bad but pretty light for the style.

Very nice and drinkable dunkel. Fruity type aroma and almost overly sweet tongue, but the taste is quite nice. I’m softening on these dunkel things. Dunkel dunkel dunkel.

dortmunder (961) - Herdecke, GERMANY - SEP 24, 2004
Lovely cloudy red-brown colour. Lacey, quickly diminishing head. Heavy banana aroma. The taste is somewhat out of style in that it tastes like a Helles Hefeweizen minus the citric taste. Smooth texture. Some fruitiness and some hints of coffee and caramel. Ok, maybe some more differences to a helles weizen. But very drinkable and I think even better than its Franziskaner equivalent.

pilsnerrogge (3036) - Finspång, SWEDEN - AUG 2, 2004
Murky brown colour. Nice head. Big banana-aroma with sourish clove-fumes. Yeast-dry flavour with liquorice and sourish cloves (again). Very smooth and drinkable.

SpringsLicker (3687) - Tennessee, USA - JUL 18, 2004
This pours a typical dark brown cloudy body with a huge creamy wheat head. Aroma of banana and spicy clove. Smooth body, creamy, filling. I imagine this would rate even higher if sampled fresh (which these German Weizens rarely are here in the U.S.)

JonMoore (2067) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 15, 2004
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Dark brown and cloudy, with a foamy white, long lasting head. Aroma is banana and cloves. Flavour is the same plus malt and yeast. Very smooth, extremely drinkable with a very good mouthfeel. Excellent.

y0cola (361) - fremont, California, USA - JUL 11, 2004
mediocre flavor of cake, oil, and some other descriptive adjective which seems to have slipped my fragile, fragile mind at the moment. pardon me for not writing this rating down.

Hansen (8629) - Assentoft, DENMARK - JUL 7, 2004
Dark and unclear. Medium head. Fruity and spicy, corianer. A bit too sour. Perhaps to old.

3.5
Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUN 23, 2004
Cloudy copperish color with small head. Very fruity and banana aroma, some yeast in there too. Strong banana flavor is pretty dominating, no hops to mention. Some yeastiness also in flavor, but somehow it fits in nicely. Carbonation comes up in the end, makes beer nicely crisp and well balanced. My first dunkelweizen, surprised me positively.

3.7
GreatDane (101) - Skævinge, DENMARK - MAY 8, 2004
Paulaner makes excellent weiss-bier, and the Hefeweizen Dunkel is certainly on of the. Aroma of fruits and caramel, nice dark amber color and a long-lasting head
