When the Original Münchner was brewed for the first time at the end of the 19th Century, it was a spectacular success. With its hoppy taste, subtle, light and elegant, it becomes ever popular. Today the Paulaner Original Münchner is the best sold Münchner Hellbier (lager beer) in the world and Paulaner's No. 1 export beer in over 30 countries with its wonderfully subtle, spicy, naturally hearty taste.

Bottle - pale yellow, medium with very small white head. Small lemony aroma. Ting on tongue and in mouth. Slightly tangy tasting, but standard lager basically - very thin.

It’s a little hoppy for me and I’m not fond of the aftertaste. Still searching for the perfect Lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aromă ușoară, malț, cereale încolțite, paie proaspete, ceva ierburi și frunze. Gust ușor, puțin amar (frunze), malț, paie uscate, cereale. Bună și curată.

Bill Becker (1806) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 17, 2017
From Feb 2006 Poured from the bottle a light gold with a large head of foam that dissipated slowly. The only smell I could get was of slight malt and yeast. The taste is nice and malty up front with a good dose of hops midway to make for a good balance. But...after a few sips, the beer kind of falls flat and becomes a bit boring. I see the bottle date is Aug of 05 so I'll have to retry it if I can find a fresher sample. Overall...even at 6 months, it's not a bad drop.

500ml can as "Paulaner Münchner Hell" bought at 7-Eleven on Nelson Street, Mong Kok.

Looks: Clear pale golden colour; Three finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 4 minutes; Very good sticky lacing with active slight carbonation.

Aroma: Pungent full Lager malt, with grains, strong floral, light malt sugar, strong bread, lemon and strong grass.

Taste: Close to medium sweet malt, with floral, sugar, light herbal, bread, lemon, fair to medium bitter hops and grass.

Body: Mid to light body. Slick and slightly creamy palate.

Mouth Feel: Good Lager maltyness in slick, slightly watery background. Simple and clean tasting with floral and fair sweetness. Light herbal and bread with fair lemon to round. Not bad!

Hoppiness: Strong floral, lemon and strong grass in nose. Herbs, floral, light lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness is fairly light for an abrupt, light astringent sweet bitter malty finish.

After Taste: Quite dry. Herbal grassy and slightly bitter to mouth.

Comments: As a Helles, this big boy is simple - perhaps too simple - but play it safe with expressive Hallertau aroma and fairly herbal taste. Yet, without any honey / cookie elements, its watered down body is glaringly exposed. Probably one of the most hoppiest Helles around, I just wish its maltyness can be fuller and more colorful. An easy Summer beer for me.

P.S. Wash all RateBeerians a Happy Oktoberfest and Mid-Autumn!

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2017 Bottle. Clear golden colour. Thick white head. Aroma of bread and grain. Light body and moderate carbonation. Well balanced crisp and sweet (sort of like wheat beer sweetness). A bit of sweetness in the aftertaste.

Had this many times over the years. Rating only now. Clear golden, diminishing off-white head. Moderate grainy and grassy aromas in balance, light vegetable. Crisp, slightly dusty. Medium body, moderate carbonation, balanced finish. Not unpleasant, even nicely hopped.
