The Original Münchner Urtyp is another Münchner Original, a traditional tasty pleasure. A bit stronger and darker than the Original Münchner it has a convincingly noble malt aroma with a well-rounded bitter taste. In order to survive long transportation, it used to be brewed with a higher content of basic ingredients. Today this strong export beer is particularly popular at many of the public fairs from spring until autumn.

From old tasting notes. Deep gold color with a thick white head. Sweet malty nose. Dryish malt flavor upfront. Slight herbal bitter hop finish. Nothing special.

0.5 l bottle from local ’trinkgut’ as ’Paulaner Münchner Urtyp’, best before March 2018. Clear, pale golden yellow with a medium large, dense, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly grassy-spicy aroma of grains, some straw and a touch of butter. Sweetish, slightly malty, a bit grassy-spicy taste of grains, straw and some butter, followed by a short, slightly bitter, moderately grassy-spicy and minimally metallic finish with unpleasant yeasty notes. Almost medium-bodied, quite smooth and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Drinkable, but tastes rather cheap, not very clean and quite a letdown to be honest, especially considering that this bottle is fairly fresh.

On tap, from the wood, Muenchner Stubn. Rich golden colour, white foam. Grainy, with ever so slight hints of fruit in the finish. Medium hop bitterness, bit spicy, short finish. Nothing special.

Bottle from Trinkgut in Kleve or Goch, not for sure. The beer is yellow to golden colored and has a small head, with average carbo. The aroma is malty and fruity, with tones of grass, citrus and grains. The taste is light sweet and malty, has some nice fruit and grain notes and changes into a herbal and grassy bitterness. The finish is light dry and bitter.

Als je het uitschenkt is het zoals een pilsbiertje. Redelijk licht van kleur. Normale geur. De smaak valt wat tegen, niet veel speciaals.

rayaron (1836) - Kfar Saba, ISRAEL - FEB 27, 2016
Bottle sample at DSG’s 10K rating celebration tasting at Dancing Camel, Tel Aviv. Thanks avrashi. Clear light yellow with white head. Aroma of corn and honey. The flavor is oxidised with notes of corn and honey.
