On tap @ Paulaner Wirtshaus / Gmuend, Germany --- Aroma of malt and caramel. Hazy amber brown color, full beige head that drops to a full cover, streaks of lace. Taste is malt that adds caramel. The caramel grows more pronounced as it moves through a medium carbonated swallow, adding just a little bittering in the finish. Big on flavor, but light in the belly. I will buy this again. Draft at Frauendorf. Clear amber brown color, tan head. Aroma of burnt caramel, light spice. Taste is sweet, malty with subtle spice. Not bad. A change of pace from the usual helles-dunkel-weizen trio anyway. lusikka (7833) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 28, 2014
500 ml bottle @ Wirsthaus in der Au, Munich. Pours a dark brown colour with a small white head. Aroma of bread, some grassy hops and syrup. Flavour of strong bready maltiness, syrup, grassy bitterness and some licorice. Medium bodied and quite strong carbonation. Nice malty brew. Alengrin (5893) - BELGIUM - AUG 27, 2014
Typical German rye beer, the follow-up of the classic Thurn und Taxis Roggen. Equal, creamy, off-white, more or less stable head, dark burgundy colour, hazy. Full sweet malt aroma, caramel, apple, brown sugar, almond, chocolate, cinnamon, particular spiciness doubtlessly coming from the rye. Mellow, soft malt taste, bready, fruity, with a slight sourish rye touch especially in the finish, dryish, very refreshing. A very appetizing beer indeed, somewhat related to their Dunkelweizen. kingstoni (2174) - FINLAND - JUL 10, 2013
Bottle. Hazy dark amber color with a thin head. Medium mild aroma of syrup and caramel with notes of raisin. Too bad the taste is mild and quite watery. Oily feel. Medium thin body.

Bottle at Gastsätte zum Paulaner. Pours clear amber/brown with a large, creamy light tan to off-white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is fragrant rye, spices, earthy notes, light hops, and fruity esters (dates). Flavor is malt dominant, spicy rye, lightly sour, low bitterness, earthy and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth. AshtonMcCobb (7029) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 5, 2012
50cl bottle. Pours a dark amber colour with a decent head. The nose is rich and sweet - toffee and nuts. The taste has more of the same praline thing. The palate is medium to full bodied with a rich tangy/creamy texture and a finish that could be cleaner. Overall, a good example of a style I’m not hugely into. Prost!

Draught, Brewpub Munich.
Cloudy dark brown beer with big fluffy tan foam.
Aroma consists of caramelly, chocolatey malts with distinct bready spice and caramelised banana.
Thick, creamy, somewhat oily texture in comparison to a standard dunkelweizen. High carbonation.
Plenty of sweet toffee and nutty malts on the body, lots of dried fruits and caraway like spiciness that persists beyond the finish.
Really liked this beer!
