COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas’ time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Pours an orange tinted amber with a small off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is caramel, toffee, bread, malt. The taste is similar to the smell with some alcohol coming on at the end.

AROMA: what the fuck, it smells like meat or something. If beef flowers existed, that's how I imagine them to smell. It's very 'brown', malty in its aroma but it's quite refreshing, something like eating a steak in a nice leathery sofa in a restaurant that's just been cleaned. That's some expert analysis from me. ***** APPEARANCE: uuuuuugh soooooo. Literally no head at all, but good clarity (a style requirement). Head is expected from a bock - and yet, this is a strong doppelbock, bottled. So perhaps I can see this through. ***** TASTE: lightly sweet but not overpowering. Malty but doesn't taste like porridge. A bit of dried fruits, with alcohol slightly peeking through like it's a nice Belgian. I dislike most Belgians (except Divock Origi) but it is good, boozy but lovely in doing that. Overall, solid from an almost 8% beer. ***** PALATE: hooooooooooooooo booooy. It's lager-like (8 PERCENT ALCOHOL!), has medium carbonation and goes down like water. As usual, I warmed it through to see all the garbage. The garbage was precisely in line with the aroma and the taste. Slight dried fruit, slight malt, weak boozy undertone. All in a soft lager-ish beer. ***** OVERALL: Lovely. I'd down pints of this, if given the chance. It's strong beer done well, with every detail following you through the entire trip. There are weaknesses in this beer but in general, it's a pretty little number.

Very nice taste. Aroma is one of beer's most complex features. Thanks for the service.

Pretty straightforward doppelbock, steamrolling your palate with deep toffee and caramel malt notes backed up by date, fig, candied apple, and clove. A woodsy, floral bitterness keeps the pint from growing cloy, while the fade has traces of apple jam on buttered bread. Smooth, creamy carbonation makes for an easygoing texture, and the nose is all boozy fruit. Pour's not great, coming out a hazed orange with tons of yeast beasties swirling about but not much head or lace. Otherwise a solid beer.

Clear copper, little carbonation, small head, no lacing. Strong malty aroma, sweet, floral, caramel. Tastes bitter, but with a sweet malty, quite unpleasant after taste. Bitter yeasty funk, utterly sweet-bitter sticky feel on the tongue, herbal, caramel, booze. Terrible to my taste, reminds me of the taste in my mouth when I wake up after a night on booze. Quite flat carbonation, with a oily mouthfeel, strong artificial sugary bitter puke after taste. Terrible.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2017 Had this one on tap at Ottawa's Craft beer Market. Very refreshing on a nice September Friday evening. Great company, great selection. Had a second one yesterday (can from LCBO), had time to savour it, gave it an extra point.

Koelschtrinker (20782) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - SEP 15, 2017
Weich alkoholischer, herb-malziger Antrunk. Erstaunlich geringe Würzigkeit, hell getreidig malzig, trocken werdend. Die Intensität bleibt hinter den Erwartungen zurück, der Nachhall ist entsprechend kurz. Okay, angesichts des Alkoholgehalts enttäuschend. 10/8/9/8/11/8

Color anaranjado, espuma densa y de 3 dedos de grosor. Textura suave, con olores a cereal sobretodo. Final suave. Una grata sorpresa, bien por Paulaner.

Barwa rubinowo-miedziana, bardzo klarowne, piana niska, pozostaje tylko cienka obrączka. W aromacie chleb, ciastka zbożowe, lekko mięsne. W smaku czuć sporą słodowość, karmel i inne chlebowe akcenty, w końcu to koźlak. Wysycenie średnie, goryczka niska do średniej.

Приятное немецкое пиво с нотами сливы и карамели. Присутствует легкая горчинка. Абсолютно не чувствуется алкоголь при 7,9% .
