The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas’ time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 13/20
bartlebier (4013) - Belchium im Biersgau, - JAN 28, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 10, 2015 50cl bottle(s) - Poors a less than inspiring translucent red-brown with modest beige head. Nice light roast and caramel, light-medium mouthfeel, distinct notes of alcholic burn and slight ethanolic fumes = not brewed down to perfection imho. Not unbalanced, drinkable, but disinterested in brewing anything more tasty than a traditional (60s70s80s80s) Doppelbock for the traditional palate. Initial Rating Date: 1/28/2013. - - - Rerate on tap in München 03/2015: gentle plum and pudding and soggy brown bread go gently into faint milk chocolate and plum jam and maroni caramels. This is the time for Starkbierfests where gentle beer connaisseurs are gently sipping their 1L mugs of this stuff at the Nockherberg and by 9pm are gently bashing their own and each other’s heads in. Not sure if I could even stomache a full Maß of this Doppelbrick...

Assez savoureuse.

Gedronken in zuid Frankrijk, mooie kleur, schuimkraag heel snel weg, zoet biertje met beetje bittere afdronk, zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2017/07/01 - Pours a clear amber brown colour with a thin, foamy, off white head that quickly disappears and leaves no lacing. Aroma is bready, roasted malts, sweet caramel, apple and dried fruits (raisin, figs). Taste is sweet toffee, bread, dried fruits toasted malt and light alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium and syrupy with low carbonation and a sweet, mildly toasted, lightly warming finish. Not bad, but not the best dopplebock out there. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bootlegger007 (212) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 20, 2017
Light roasted malt aroma along with caramel, has a ruby appearance with little to no head, rather a sweet bock of medium body, I found this a very enjoyable starter beer

0,5l Bottle. Pours amber color with some head. Sweet syrupy flavor with some nuts, malts, dark fruits alcohol. Very sweet. Medium body, sweet mostly balanced by alcohol and some dark fruits and plums. Short aftertaste. Quite nice overall, maybe bit over the top with syrupy sweetness.

BBE 08.17. Tumman simaisen ruskea väri, hutera semituuhea nopea vaahto. Suutuntuma siirappisen makea, alkuun metallinen, snadin alkoholinen, siirappisuus dominoi. Juotavaa kamaa.

Nice beer. It is not a world class beer but. You have to taste it. Just try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
