COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas’ time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle. Clear dark amber beer with average off-white head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, bread, with notes of dried fruits, some dark fruits and nuts. Taste is medium sweet and light+ bitter, of caramel, bread, dark fruits, some raisins, toffee, nuts. Medium body and carbonation. Quite good.

Slight caramel sweetness, hints of raisin, pleasantly bitter aftertaste. Alcohol clearly comes through, as well as yeast. Smells fruity, quite nice. Appealing color, unstable head. All flavors perfectly balanced. Definitely too be repeated.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2018 On tap at Black Forest Inn German restaurant. Caramel brown hazy pour. Malty sweet aroma. Taste is spot on for the style, very well made. Great beer.
