COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas’ time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

That’s one delightful doppelbock. I’m usually more oriented on abbey and other strong beers, but this one surprised me a lot. Interesting abv, generous taste, and deep aroma with hints of caramel and a quite smooth palate. Definitely the kind of beer I’d enjoy on any occasion, and a new reference as far as I’m concerned. Great! APPROVED BY TAVERNY’S BLACK METAL CREW!

Smaržā medains iesals, nav īpaši dzidrs, medainā krāsā. Garša - kaut kā atgādina medu (nedaudz, jo nav jau tik salds), ar nelielu rūgtenumu, iesalains. Pabiezs alus, nav nekāds viegli dzeramais, taču jāuzteic par to, ka alkoholu nejūt.

A little sour in the aroma, but sweet in taste. Well balanced, fruity notes.

Floral smells, sweet malt and caramel. Tastes of sweet dried fruit bread and a balanced undercurrent of alcohol. Low carbonation and dry mouthfeel. Not my favorite double bock.

One of my favourite beers mostly because of a nice cherry clear color and bittery taste

Botella de 33 cl. Color naranja oscuro, un poco turbia y abundante espuma color hueso. Aromas a maltas, dulces, caramelos y a pan. Sabor a caramelo, dulzona, notas del malteado muy marcadas, fruta en almíbar. Muy equilibrada para sus casi 8 grados. Una delicia de Doppelbock.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2017 (500 ml bottle) Clear mahogany-red beer, with a creamy off-white head. Fine, steady and continuous carbonation. The aroma is sweet and malty, with notes of wild fruit (perhaps raspberry), lemon, honey, coffee, a touch of alcohol, and freshly-baked bread. A perfect medium mouthfeel: incredibly smooth and creamy. The finish becomes slightly more bitter as the beer progresses, with hints of earth, mineral water and pine. This is a beautifully balanced beer: all the aromas complement each other perfectly. The combination of its rich profile, and a smooth, light palate makes this beer both indulgent and refreshing.
