The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas’ time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle. The pour was a medium copper brown with a yellowish-amber hue and a large (2-3 finger) cream colored frothy head that mostly diminished down to a very small amount of residue with a tiny collar, which produced some poor lacing. The aroma was of a light biscuit malt, and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of caramel, dark fruit (figs and plums), and was a bit nutty. Taste was sweet and very malty with a big note of caramel in the beginning and ended a tad bitter and mildly sweet with a strong note of dark fruit and a mild alcohol tinge. The flavor lasted an average time after the swallow with a nice sweet fruity taste left behind along with a nice mild alcohol warming sensation. Mouthfeel was a bit under medium in body and dry yet a tiny bit syrupy in texture with a moderate carbonation. Overall a very impressive beer with a really good blending of malts, fruit and sweetness which made this a wonderful tasting experience...

330 ml bottle, over two years after best before date, but still good. Pours cloudy brown with a very fine tanned head, lacing present. Vere nice and sweet aroma, caramel, cocoa, malty. Very sweet in taste, bit like coffee candy, some chocolate and pruns. Very delicate for almost 8% abv, flat, taste doesn't linger too much. Nice beer in overall but a bit too sweet for me. Maybe it was due to age.

Bursztynowej barwy, klarowne. Piana niska, dosyć szybko się redukuje. Aromat słodowy, jest delikatny karmel, nuty opiekane, skórka od chleba, delikatne słodkie nuty miodowe. W smaku słodowe, trochę słodkie, goryczka niska.

Slight caramel sweetness, hints of raisin, pleasantly bitter aftertaste. Alcohol clearly comes through, as well as yeast. Smells fruity, quite nice. Appealing color, unstable head. All flavors perfectly balanced. Definitely too be repeated.

Bottle pours amber-brown with a beige head. Dark fruits, malt, brown, sugar, raisins, hints of smoke, alcohol. I suspect fans of doppelbocks will like this one, but for me, it's too malty and sweet.
