Copper color with off-white head. Aroma is fruity acid. Taste of fruit, what acidic, wood and caramel.

Klare orange braune Farbe, schöne stabile beige Schaumkrone. Geruch nach roten Früchten, Karamell, dunkles Malz. Geschmack nach roten Beeren, leicht säuerlich, Karamell, gut!

Draught at Pressklubben. APPEARANCE: red brown beer, small stable beige head. NOSE: sour, fruity, oak, some cherries. TASTE: sour, fruity, oak, in general a bit watered down Rodenbach. But not bad at all!

Draft. Deep maroon, dark but mostly clear, with two fingers of marshmallowy sand-colored foam. In the nose: Honey, caramel and balsamic in that order. Fairly malt-focused. The flavor seems almost oxidized, with malts and old honey, biscuits, caramel and a splash of balsamic. Not as tart as I’d like.

Very old-fashioned ’oud bruin’, though not matured on oak (but there is a long lagering in fusts). Caramelly, chocolatey, nutty, with sweet sourish taste, artificially added lactic acid (with which there is nothing wrong as such), sweetness dominates. A somewhat simple, straightforward example, like so many oud bruin beers must have been a hundred years ago. I like the way this brewery sticks to tradition, obsolete as their beers may be.

Normaal ben ik niet zo’n fan van oud bruin, maar deze kon mij absoluut bekoren.

I really like this style, but this one is just too sweet, like they poured sugar in it. A shame.

In Leuven at the ZBF 2001 vintage version. Pours clear dark brown...no hazy appearance due to the aging and also almost no foam. Nose of prunes and liquor notes. Watery mouth. Good beer but I think not for aging. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ Kulminator. Red/brown colour. Very weak aroma. Thin body. Almost no sourness. Sweet with notes of cardboard and dust. Not good at all.
