It's amazing that it took so long til I drank this one again and rate it, so finally. Pours clear amber in its iconic glass with a huge, lasting, frothy, white head. The aroma contains caramel, (cookie) dough, cinnamon, brown sugar, spices, orange & apple, faint iron (nothing disturbing). It tastes medium to heavy sweet with cookie & caramel notes, then light spicy bitter, leading to a sweetish, bit spicy and hoppy finish with warming alcohol (fruit liqueur effect). Medium to full body, oily texture (effectively leaving something 'fatty' on the bottom of the glass), fizzy carbonation. My dear Kwak, it's been too long, but I still like you!

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2018 Bottle from the Beer Hawk advent calendar. Auburn with an off white head. The aroma is yeast and malt. The taste is an over powering roasty yeast. Very Belgian, reminds of Leffe Bruin.

No ale no, belgijskie drożdże, suszone owoce, fajne całkiem

yerffoeg (104) - Dinant, BELGIUM - JAN 28, 2018

Servert i riktig glass.

Enjoyed 4 years after its bottling date of 01.08.2014, Pauwel Kwak was noticeably smooth, malty, and cohesive. Clear amber coloring with a creamy off-white head. Toasted malt and sugar on the nose. A hint of the dried red and dark fruits that are more prominent on the palate. Large caramel presence. Notes of raisins and ribes. Sweet rather than tart fruitiness. Texture is soft. There's a bit of alcohol warmth, and virtually no hoppy bitterness. Some subtle Belgian spice character. Excellent.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2018 Bottiglia 33 cL, al naso è dolcissima, frutta e caramello. In bocca arrivano subito il lievito e il malto caramello. Segue l'alcol. Molto facile da bere nonostante la gradazione. Una belga classica e facile da bere.
