THOUGHTS: I had notes on over 60 beers that I hadn’t input onto ratebeer when I tried this beer; and I promised myself I wouldn’t rate any new beers until I got caught up. I had this beer on January 2 and it has taken me a little over a month to catch up. But once I finish this rating. I can try new beer. Hurrah. This was a Christmas gift from a coworker. Hid alcohol fairly well. A nice beer, but nothing special. I think I might give it another shot down the line when I don’t have a cold. Oddly, it seemed slightly British to me. Gave it a bonus point for having a beautiful bottle.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium to dark orange with a large, just slightly off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was light to moderate caramel malt and candi sugar, light hops, moderate earthy yeast, light alcohol, stone fruits (maybe peaches or apricots. The flavor started very sweet and slightly acidic, and finished acidic and lightly bitter with an average duration. There was caramel malt, candi sugar, stone fruit (maybe peaches, but more likely apricots) spicy and earthy hops. The flavor was nice, but a little flat in the finish. The medium to full body was a little syrupy then dry with fizzy carbonation and a light alcoholic and slightly metallic finish.

Bottle. The beer poured a nice amber body with a small tan head. The smell is a good blend of citrus and roasted malt, a hint of brown sugar. Taste is just like the smell with good carbonation. eManu (544) - Kuala Lumpur & Brussels, BELGIUM - FEB 1, 2009
I do enjoy it once in a while.
Nice to have this in the middle of a Sunday afternoon, one of the world’s little pleasures. Pours a clear deap copper color with a nice light tan tick foam.
Its aroma give a nice strong dry fruit feel. It taste of nice smooth malts and orange. A very smooth and nice beer. The fun part also is to use the glass with its wooden stand, a perfect moment to have douglas88 (9180) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 31, 2009
Another beer I should have rated a long time ago. Bottle from the Bayou. A bright copper pour with a medium white head. A nice spicy aroma, some rich malts and yeast also. The flavor is very nice; dry, lots of yeast, a interesting apple-cinnamon flavor, some fruity malt also. Nice. epf33 (227) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - JAN 30, 2009
this beer looks just how a belgian style ale should look, misty and a brown amber, the taste follows very nicely

Amber beer with a nice head. Enjoyable, but rather thin bodied and overly sweet with rich caramel. The glass is rather the main attraction with this beer, especially when in the company of unknowing friends. islay (2734) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 25, 2009
750 mL bottle. Pungent, sharp, sour, farmhouse aroma features apple, cinnamon, and potpourri scents. The smell is not particularly strong. Pours an effervescent hazy copper with a large amount of long-lasting, fluffy, creamy, uneven, beige head. Looks cool, but it’s downhill from there. Excessively sweet taste. “Beery” flavor; the beer somehow has that unfortunate finish and aftertaste of a bad macro lager. Creamy candy with some spice. Slightly metallic. Flavors are weak; bland. Strange, buttery aftertaste. Light to medium body. Smooth in the palate. Forgettable taste at best. I got this bottle over a year ago, and it came with a very cool branded glass with wooden holder. Suffice it to say that the glassware is a heckuvalot better than the beer. noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 25, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 On tap in the mini-yard. Very clear medium amber, flourishing up a full, creamy yellowish head that dissipates quickly, leaving no lace to speak of. Slightly effervescent. Aroma is initially faint, slightly honeyed. After the head dissipates, the nose becomes quite yeasty. Flavor is primarily a yeasty funk, turning just slightly vanilla-sweet and citric on the finish. Medium bodied, drinks cleanly with a pleasant effervescence in the mouth. hayduke (5204) - Eureka, California, USA - JAN 24, 2009
This was $9/99 at BevMo. Poured a red to amber with off-white head and good lacing. Nose of ripe fruit. Rich creamy mouthfeel. Flavor of fruit and cloves. Good beer. jkwalking05 (4735) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JAN 22, 2009
Deep amber color with a small off white head. Aroma is of malts, caramel. Taste is of hops, yeast and a malty sweetness.
