UPDATED: DEC 3, 2014 330ml bottle from LCBO, Summerhill in Toronto, ON. 8.4% Alc./Vol. Pours a clear amber colour with a minimal lasting white head. Aroma is complex but candy and liquorice are pronounced. Whiff of hoppy aroma is present. Sweet candy flavor blends well with the traditional Belgian yeast and malts. Finishes off with a well balanced hoppy finish. Body is surprisingly light for a Belgian strong ale. Med - high carbonation. geolgau (417) - Cluj-Napoca, ROMANIA - AUG 12, 2017
Aroma is rich on malts, with some caramel, dark fruit jam, and some nice fruity hops. Taste is nice, not too sweet. Malty and lightly spiced, there’s a touch of alcohol, jam, and nuts. Not very complex, but ok. klas (416) - SWEDEN - DEC 2, 2012
Bottle from Systembolaget. 25 SEK. Blind tested yesterday evening at the yearly Winter/Christmas seasonal brew testing. Not really a seasonal brew... danielst (416) - AUSTRIA - APR 1, 2009
This beer has a deep red colour with a thick head, which looks great. Aromas of plums and chocolate with faint notes of alcohol and yeast. The flavour is full, nicely roasted malt with a good hoppy note. The sweetness is not intrusive and the bitterness in the finish just about right - the alcohol is really well hidden! Pour is a deep red with little or no head. Tons of floaties! Aroma is eathy, peat with some dark fruits in there. Flavor is is like a bowl of raisins and plums. Lots of dark fruity flavor throughout. Finally you get the alcohol at the back of the throat. Very pleasing in both the flavor and aroma. One of my favorites!

Red/brown, white lasting head. Aroma from plums, banana and with nutty notes. Malty flavor with some alcohol and some cream. Mild and sweet finish. Aarleks (409) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - DEC 10, 2006
Bottle: Clear orange gold with a yellowy white head. Straong, heavy phenolic aromas tending to the darker side of the spectrum. Some fleshy fruit too (pineapple? grape?) and lots of juicy tangy wheat. In the mouth I got peach and pear notes under a minty clove and spcy wheat banana chorus. A noticable reisny presence too. Nice, and a little different. JayBaxter (407) - Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - AUG 29, 2004
Nice cherry wood colour with a tiny white head.Lovely malty, hoppy aroma and a sweet slightly spicy taste & unlike some other belgian beers this one doesnt have a massively bitter aftertaste.I think that it hides its alcohol well, but Im sure the Mrs would dissagree when Im muttering drunken sweet nothings to her later on this evening!!! Good beer,I could drink a few of these. leems (406) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 2, 2010
Hungary 2010, boDeep orange with a huge cream colored fluffy head. Dark fruit, orange peal, fruit syrup, orange marmelade aroma. Taste is about the same big body, sweet, lots of yeast esters, tons of alcohol booziness.
