Poured dirty bronze, a bit hazy, with a thick, creamy, sturdy white head. Good retention and very sticky lace. Wonderful complex aroma, full of malt, fruit, figs and cherries, brown sugar, smoke, peat, earth, yeast, alcohol and floral hops. Flavors were sweet malt, caramel & toffee, dark fruit, grain, french bread, cherries, apples, lemons, yeast, alcohol, raisins and sherry. Great creamy mouthfeel, solid, slightly bitter finish.

It's surprisingly intense, with a fruity and zesty palate which finishes quickly leaving you wanting more. And yes, definately drink it in the special glass.

Draught. Deep amber almost brown in color. Virtually no head at all. The nose is malty and candied fruit. Slightly dry finish, but has a decent medium body with the right amount of carbonation to carry the taste where it needs to go. The glassware / presentation is just silly

red color with a medium head and has tons of floaties in it. Aroma of yeast, fruits and spices. Raisin flavor and you can taste the heavier alcohol but not over powering. Leaves you with a clean aftertaste.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2005 The Kwak glass is so spiffy looking I had to buy one today, with the beer to go along. Pours a beautiful clear orange copper with a large foamy beige head shooting up the neck and dissipating gradually. I had fun watching the small bubbles rise from the bulb and up the unique shape of the glass. The aroma is of sweet toasty caramel with hints of nuts (peanut butter lightly makes an appearance). The roasted malts are emphasized in the flavor with lots of caramel and honey. Very smooth palate with a bitter and mildly alcoholic aftertaste. Leaves sparse lacing as you drink it. This beer is truly an experience of its own. I really enjoyed it!

On draught @ Brasserie V in Madison, served in a Kwak glass (very cool glass). Pours a slightly cloudy amber with an off-white head. Aromas of caramel, fruits and cinnamon. Sweet fruity flavor with slight hops bitterness and a long sweet finish, medium carbonation. Good stuff, but not spectacular.

Aspetto ambrato-rosso, bella schiuma. Buon profumo, sapore fruttato e caramellato, bellequilibrio finale tra dolce e amaro. Unottima Belgian Strong Ale.

I had this in the traditional glass, an excellent beer with a velvet like mouthfeel and sweetish malty fruit notes. Very enjoyable.
