bottle @ Cafe Gollum, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Amber brown in color poured into Kwak glass with unique wooden holder. Both caramel sweet & flandersish sour & bitter. Well balanced

Pours a cloudy rust color with a thick beige head. Peaty smelling aroma with a creamy palate and smooth finish.

Bottle. Clear copper, with thin and quickly disappearing off-white head (am not really sure it was off-white, is went away so fast). Malty, heavy, alcoholic aroma with some herbal hops and notes of rye bread and apricot. Medium to light bodied. A bit unbalnced flavour, alcohol is too evident. Still interesting.

Clear golden copper body with a decent size off-white head. This one is mostly a lot of malt caramel with candied fruits. Nothing spectacular but well done. The beer is moderately sweet and when my palate got passed the malt caramel and fruity flavours I noticed some woody hops that are there more for an aromatic purpose than to provide bitterness. Pleasant typical belgian body and pleasant typical lively belgian carbonation 8% is apparent. Some bubble gum flavours develops as it warms up. A very well done but somewhat generic as far as Belgian Strong Ales are concerned. The only thing that makes is stand out is a funny sounding name and even funnier looking official glass. It really kwaks me up.

Nice Belgian brown ale! Dark amber colour. Sweet fruity aroma. Nice sweetish flavour of caramel. A great beer indeed from East Flandern.

yep fruity and malty alright. nice bready body like banana creampie. apricot or guava maybe both. the candy rind. you can notice the alcohol burn. though it’s not bad. not my type but real good.

Aroma of caramel and alcohol. Pour was a dark brown with a huge four finger puffy head. The taste was dark fruit, caramel and malt. The constant battle between alcohol burn and sweetness was interesting. Not very well balanced but good.

afterglow (1047) - Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2007
Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a two finger off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel, dried fruit, and some yeast spice. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel that finishes slightly sweet. A very good beer with a very interesting glass to match.

dogfishho (669) - Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA - JUN 8, 2007
Pours a dark amber with a huge, rocky white head. The aroma is slightly spicy with a definite toffee malt aroma. The flavor is light with the profile being dominated by a light sweetness that is complimented with a balanced spice and floral hops flavor. It finishes clean without any stickiness, but seems slightly over carbonated relative to the flavor profile. Overall, a solid entry into an ambiguous and huge style of beer.

Rich amber colour with a huge white head. Dominant malt character with sweet malts, caramel, slight roasted cahacter and spicy hopped finish. Very crisp beer with balanced carbonation and warmth from the alcohol. easy goin beer
