UPDATED: APR 30, 2007 Bottled. Caramel and herbal aroma. Amber color, irregular off-white head, few lace. Sweet, caramel, herbal, light bready, medium body, alcoholic. Start plain and too sweet but futher on it gets more interesting. thebaron99 (110) - Royston Park SA, AUSTRALIA - MAY 4, 2002
Floral ether of heady type
mead like and grape hyacinth. Serve
warmish, 8ºC+ for full effect. Cloying
sweetness of treacle and sherry.
Initially disappointed (too cold) but will
try again. unixweb (237) - Sherman, Texas, USA - MAY 7, 2002
Fruity, spicy nose, maybe bananas or pineapple, with not a whole lot of head in the glass (yes THE glass). It tastes typical to me, along the lines of some of Unibroue’s brews, which I like very much. This was a bit sweeter than some, and it did warm going down due to the 8 percent ABV. It became much more flavorful as it warmed. I didn’t like it cold, straight from the fridge. It’s a little thick and syrupy for me, but overall a nice Belgian. I will try it again. scottyg (79) - Gainesville, Florida, USA - AUG 27, 2002
I thought this is was a pretty good.... jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 4, 2002
Originally had this at a small marionette pub in Brussels in the traditional glass, which is my preferred way. This is bottled. Light bodied golden color with a nice Belgian style head. Tart and hoppy aroma, smells of spiced apples and pears. Perhaps a little too much carbination for my taste. An overall good ale.

Yeast and citrus aroma, deep amber, medium vanilla head. Apple/pear, malt flavours some raisins too. Full bodied, dry finish, very nice tongue tingle. Quite good! CapFlu (5127) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 9, 2003
(bottle) Pours a foamy, white head and a deep amber body. Spiced alcohol nose. Flavours of dough, fruit, caramel and spice. Finishes a mellow apple. Nice. matta (1140) - Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 25, 2003
Kwak has a beautiful amber color and a strong malted taste. I enjoyed this beer that I find similar to a barley wine. Unfortunately I did not have the traditional Kwak stirrup cup drinking glass. MAP (1133) - Lakewood, Ohio, USA - APR 11, 2003
Smells slightly sweet, small feel of cirtus. It foamed up in the bottle, yet, gave very little head once poured. Color is nice ambem and golden. Palate is nice, gives a feel of bitterness initally, followed by a the citrus flavor. mrkimchee (1414) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 11, 2003
copper colour. fruity, anisey aroma. flavours of raisins, toffee, sour apple and slight alcolhol. not bad.
