Gangstergafje (1144) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - APR 21, 2015
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2015 Beautiful experience. The beer pours a nice soft foam with a little brown tint. The beer is crystal clear. The color is light brown with a red touch. The smell is rather simple, not very strong. Little metal smell. Theresa is a little roasted aroma, nice. The taste is incredible. Sweet, little bitterness, taste of almonds and maybe amaretto (becouse of the almonds). There is also some lemon. The different tastes and aroma’s are in verry good balance. One of the best brews in the world.

Poured dirty bronze, a bit hazy, with a thick, creamy, sturdy white head. Good retention and very sticky lace. Wonderful complex aroma, full of malt, fruit, figs and cherries, brown sugar, smoke, peat, earth, yeast, alcohol and floral hops. Flavors were sweet malt, caramel & toffee, dark fruit, grain, french bread, cherries, apples, lemons, yeast, alcohol, raisins and sherry. Great creamy mouthfeel, solid, slightly bitter finish.

Had it in bottle and on draft. My favorite beer so far. Long lasting taste, nice dark colours and good foam. In my opinion better than Westvleteren 12.

Trinity Hall - This is a great beer if you can find it. Trinity Hall serves it in a long glass with a round bottom and a wooden stand.
