The flavor shows a mellow bourbon after the sip. The body has dark roasted grain base with hints of vanilla and dark bitter chocolate. The body is full, thick, and velvet like in texture. ( exactly what I like in the style ). The fact that the barrel treatment is mellow does not bother me. The positive element with low bourbon content is the 10 % is covered extremely well. Or perhaps the bourbon really mellowed after some sitting. Overall, the base stout is a solid recipe.
A very nice barrel-aged stout. Pours a beautiful deep black with a tan head. Smells of raisins, figs, vanilla. Taste is smooth, with lots of figs, coffee, vanilla, and some bourbon in the finish. Paired with mushroom and blue cheese croquettes, brings out a lot of sweetness and bourbon. Had in the bottle.

Black color, small brownish head. A bit old maybe, slim, with moderate sourness, these are giving the beer away as oldish; besides that it’s a decent Imperial Stout, a bit boozy and with a touch of barrel; I’d like to try a fresh bottle of the regular 12 Gauge. And I’d like less booze.
650ml bottle. Dark brown Not much head. The aroma is bourbon note. Sweet, soy sauce, and a huge barrel note. Very rich flavour.

Flavour brings out some bourbon notes, followed by roasted malt, cocoa and toasted bread. Wonderful notes from the barrels, without dominating. Well-balanced. Excellent. Bottle, 2013 vintage. Pours a near black color, some big brown bubbles fade quickly leaving no head. At first sniff there is a rich sweetness to it… roast, dark chocolate, dark pitted fruit, light smoke, and bourbon. The mouthfeel is a little on the thin side, otherwise it might rival the likes of BCBS in my opinion… so close to being awesome. Still a very well done beer. The rich maltiness and dark chocolate have sort of faded a bit from the nose, but the bourbon barrel is still there and at a quite delicious level. 2012 vintage had at annual Black Friday event. This one smoothes out with age, with the barrel aging accents increasing to add emphasis to the solid RIS body. Dark beer with a thin brown head. Molasses and bourbon barrel nose. Flavors of vanilla, bourbon, wet oak, burnt caramel, over ripe fruit, and molasses. This is a nice barrel addition to what seems a strong imperial stout.
