Thanks Toby for this 2013 bottle!
Pours a pitch black, small head of tan foam, bits of lacing.
Big caramel and sweet chocolate notes up front, some oxidation that presents itself as Port like character reminiscent of an aged English Old Ale or Barleywine. Wow. Bourbon is mild and not obtrusive.
The taste backs up everything I said aboot the smell and that, I find, glorious. I have had a few Imperial Stouts that went that way in the past with significant aging.
Full bodied, light carbonation.
Dang, this is good! Tmoney99 (15135) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 13, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2017 Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt, bourbon and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex toasted sweet bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy toasted sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Complex solid brew. alexsdad06 (11242) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - DEC 13, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2017 22 oz bottle from Tavour shared with Tmoney99 and the Dutch's crew. Pours a dark cola brown color with a thin beige ring. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark fruits, molasses, chocolate, light smoked malt, hints of coffee, bourbon is mild, wood, good but the light carbonation hurts this I think. mbgrayson (818) - Anaconda, Montana, USA - AUG 7, 2017
2015 vintage. Pours a dark brown, with a nice cream colored head. Aroma of licorice, bourbon, and wood. Taste is rich and complex, notes of malts, grain, figs, chocolate, and bourbon. A very good BA imperial stout. Thumbs up! AirForceHops (8037) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - APR 26, 2017
650 ml bottle, solo domed the entire bottle. 2016 vintage. Lush tan head on a pitch black body. Aroma is vanilla, deep roast, moderate chocolate. Bourbon is an afterthought.

The flavor shows a mellow bourbon after the sip. The body has dark roasted grain base with hints of vanilla and dark bitter chocolate. The body is full, thick, and velvet like in texture. ( exactly what I like in the style ). The fact that the barrel treatment is mellow does not bother me. The positive element with low bourbon content is the 10 % is covered extremely well. Or perhaps the bourbon really mellowed after some sitting. Overall, the base stout is a solid recipe.
A very nice barrel-aged stout. Pours a beautiful deep black with a tan head. Smells of raisins, figs, vanilla. Taste is smooth, with lots of figs, coffee, vanilla, and some bourbon in the finish. Paired with mushroom and blue cheese croquettes, brings out a lot of sweetness and bourbon. Had in the bottle.

Black color, small brownish head. A bit old maybe, slim, with moderate sourness, these are giving the beer away as oldish; besides that it’s a decent Imperial Stout, a bit boozy and with a touch of barrel; I’d like to try a fresh bottle of the regular 12 Gauge. And I’d like less booze.
650ml bottle. Dark brown Not much head. The aroma is bourbon note. Sweet, soy sauce, and a huge barrel note. Very rich flavour. mcberko (19873) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 24, 2016
650mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out moderately roasted malt, followed by some cocoa and toasted bread. Flavour brings out some bourbon notes, followed by roasted malt, cocoa and toasted bread. Wonderful notes from the barrels, without dominating. Well-balanced. Excellent.
