From the tap (Ale House). Glass had a thick head that left good lacing; a reddish color pour. Minor hop aroma, grassy if anything. Sweet malt initial impression, but with a bitter aftertaste with a hint of alcohol.
Ruby-brownish in color. Pungent aroma of alcohol, hops, pine, and sugar. Flavor is similar. Stone Simcoe hops are nice alongside the earthy malts. Slight fruit astringency and a more than subtle punch of candied sugar hits right away. Not bad. A bit over the top. reggiedunlop (3725) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 5, 2015
Pours a hazy amber/reddish color with a thick and foamy off white head...great lacing and retention. Aroma has earthy tea notes and candied fruits...slightly sweet. Flavor follows suit...a bit of pine creeps in...fairly bitter on the back end but the sweet candied fruit up front is aggressive. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is dry and earthy/resinous/woody bitter. Travlr (25558) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JAN 4, 2015
Draft. Cloudy deep amber color, very thick cream colored head. Aroma of toasted caramel. Taste is fruity burnt caramel, extremely bitter and resiny. Too bitter for me. Beerdedone (3432) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 28, 2014
Bottle.Pours reddish brown with a decent off-white head. Aroma was hoppy and malty with pine, caramel and earth. Flavor of caramel, fruit, pine, citrus and bread. Bule (2228) - California, USA - JUN 21, 2014
Having for breakfast at Redwood Cafe. Pours a hazy amber color with a bit of head. Mild creamy hoppiness through a slight harshness.

Pours reddish brownish from draft at waterfront Manhattan. Caramel malts, hops. Pretty decent. williamstome (1910) - Somerville, Massachusetts, USA - APR 19, 2014
Deep red, off white head. Nice. Mildly hoppy aroma. Flavor is hops, caramel malt, fruit... boozy and weird. Maybe weird just because I haven’t had an imperial red ale before, so the intensification of this particular flavor is new to me. But it’s weird. kidobutai (696) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - APR 18, 2014
Part of a 6-pack sampler at The Yard House. Press cloudy Amber with little head, lacing. Fairly generic citrus but refreshing and smooth. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - APR 16, 2014
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a deep red yet clear body, two finger white foamy head that lasts for about a minute before dieing, minimal lacing.
The smell had some dry Simcoe hops coming through in a toasty piney way, slight citrus noted.
The taste had a dry sweetness, malts come through as the beer warms.
On the palate, it sat about a medium, slightly sessionable as the ABV is hidden well, piney aftertaste, sticky finish. Carbonation is only slightly felt.
Overall, this was great for an Imperial Red Ale, well worthy of coming back to. mike5326 (1773) - virginia beach, Virginia, USA - MAR 21, 2014
Poured from a tap. Hazy reddish brown color, they over poured it do I can't determine if there's a head. Slight musky malt aroma. Nice malt and hops character with a nice finish.
