Peak Maple Collaboration is a truly local project. Its a new twist on our previously brewed Maple Oat Ale. We worked with local farmers and small businesses to craft this beer with Maine-grown organic oats from GrandyOats and Vermont-produced organic maple syrup from Butternut Mountain Farms. The Maple Collaboration is a copper-colored brew with a dynamic mouth feel from the organic oats and a subtle richness in the finish from the organic maple syrup. The beer is in support of Chefs Collaborative, the nations leading environmentally conscious culinary organization.

It pours a clear copper color leaving the same color body. A nice one inch white foamy head appears and concaves to leave some nice foamy lacing around the sides of the pint glass. The body is light enough for some carbonation to be seen rising. The smell is all about the maple up front pretty much masking everything else even after some warming, I was hoping some other possible flavors might show up, but not this time. The taste is exceptionally sweet, perhaps a bit too much maple, I wasnt expecting this. The palate is about a medium and very smooth, possibly because of the extra maple in this beer. Overall, I really wasnt expecting this beer to be this good. Though its more of a dessert beer because of the sweetness, Id probably have it again. I will say its very different for the style.

Great looking crystal amber pour with thin off-white head. Aroma of maple with a hint of oats and yeast. Taste is not pleasant. Some maple but the bitterness and dryness dont complement it well at all. Mouthfeel is good. Overall a mediocre beer that I wouldnt even drink as a session beer.

Bottle. Pours a clouded amber color with a thin whitish head. Aroma is sweet with maple and butterscotch. Flavor is again very sweet with mostly maple dominating with some lingering caramel malt notes. Overall way too sweet for my liking.

On tap at McGregors. Clear amber, fine creamy head + retention. Maple nose and body with a creamy mouth. Decent, not complex.

Poured a clear bronze color, a bit like the color of maple syrup itself - with a small off-white head. Aroma was sweet maple, sugar notes. Not a whole lot else going on in this one.

Mild wood and butterscotch nose. Clear copper, thin head. Dried leaves with a kiss of maple syrup. Well balanced, but the flavor could be better. Fizzy. Meh.

Poured a clear amber, dare I say maple, color with a decent but fast dissipating white head. Aroma is very faint maple, cinnamon, caramel, bread, and an earthiness to it. Taste is an interesting semi sweet and bitter smoothness on the tongue that rounds out to a nice maple and floral that lingers for a while. Interesting.

Bomber from Beer Run. Pours a clear bronze color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Nice looking beer. Aroma of maple, nuts, toffeeish malts, herbal almost tinny hops. The taste is big maple notes, nuts, apple. Very granola-ish. Some stone fruits and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied, average carbonation, slight lingering bitterness and slight lingering sweetness. Nice beer.
