COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just like a dry white wine, a dry cider is a natural base for a kir style drink. This Cider Kir is inspired by the traditional French aperitif, but made with local New Zealand heritage variety apples and Moutere grown blackcurrants. The cidermaker extracts the blackcurrant juice using cold extraction following an old 19th century English recipe. It has a delightful sweet and acid balance and pours a deep red.

Bottle at WTF 3. Pours a clear ruby with no head. The aroma is strong currant, oak, apple skin. Medium body, jammy, currants, apple, nice sourness, really enjoyed this.

Bottle @ The Festival 2014. Bold red, ruby colored pour with a short lived pinkish head. Smells of currant and cherry juice. Some red grape, raisin, and undertones of apple. Slight sourness. The flavor has a nice acidity to it. Plenty of tart currant and apple. Some black cherry, grape, and a hint of lemon zest. Quite enjoyable.
