BCTC 2009. Pours a hazy light gold with a thinning white head- fades to nothing. Prickly carbonation. Aroma is peaches, although dulled down by almost a lacto infection, light crackery malts, DMS, sulfur is pretty big as well, pineapple tropicalness- and solvent. Tap at BCTC 2009: Cloudy yellow with nearly no head. Berliner Weisse like aroma- light lactic notes with some tart peach and grains. Vacant flavor- a bit musky, grainy and watered down. No body, and quite boring.

Onto the beer, I was really excited when I saw the name of this and the ABV, thinking it may be a berliner weisse. The aroma suggests that it was, but the flavor was just a disaster. Quite wheaty in the aroma, though some odd potato/french fry aromatics are noted. The flavor though, just thin, wheaty water, almost nothing else going on. And the pour was hideous. The first beer of the day I dumped.
BCTC at Peekskill’s booth. Pours a milky pale yellow (looks a bit like white peach juice actually…) with a thin white head. Light mustard, faint wheat, and light fruit. Body is watery and thin. There’s a light almost peach flavor to it, but not really prominent, and might not be my first guess if I hadn’t known to be looking for it. Finishes a little rough and grainy. I wasn’t sure what to make of this one. Seems like it wants to be a Berliner Weisse, and at 3.5% it would be about right for it, but it doesn’t have the crisp acid, which would make it a lot nicer of a beer. The brewer may have actually been going for that, but I can’t be sure as the volunteers didn’t know, and the one employee of the brewpub there that I spoke with had no idea what a Berliner Weisse even was.
