UPDATED: MAR 20, 2014 Tap at the restaurant brewery. Dark ruby to dark brown colour. Medium beige head, stable. Aroma of caramel, coffee, roasted malts. Burnt flavours of roasted malts. Light caramel, lightly fruity, light light coffee. Overall rather bitter. Full bodied, chewy mouthfeel. Roasted aftertaste with just a hint of caramel. Nice tmavy.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2005 By far the best Pegas beer, although to be honest that’s not saying much! Dark brown with a caramelly aroma and a slightly sweet caramelised malt taste with some balancing dry roastiness. A well balanced and tasty beer, the only one I’d drink again. (Draught at Pegas, Brno) RE-RATE June 06 - better again, this had more roastiness in the taste and some balancing bitter hops in the finish. Pretty decent.

Black color, small brown head. Malty, roasted, fruity, caramel scent. Malty, roasted, coffee taste. Medium to moussy mouthfeel. Spicy herbal medium bitterness.

(Rating #4843)

Tap @ Minipivovar Pegas, Brno.
Pours deep mahogany, almost black. A great, creamy, beige head on top. Aroma has sweet chocolate, some hay-like hops. Light and lively mouthfeel. Flavour has notes of tarty black currants, but is dominated by fine chocolate and a good roasted finish. Very drinkable.

Dark, almost opaque, ruby brown color, beautiful cloudy tanned head. Caramelly, a bit coffeish aroma. Quite chocolaty - coffeish flavor, caramelly flavors. Light hop profile. Well-balanced chocolaty dunkel.

Keg at Pegas. Dark reddy Brown with an off-white head. Light coffee and light chocolate. Dry hop finish. Definitly the best of the Pegas range.

MartinT (9932) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 11, 2013
My Bottom Line:
Roasted malts and raisin-y edges swing to herbal hops and their bitterness in this balanced Tmavy.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam laces atop the dark brown-tinged blackness.
-Body is lean and carbonation frothy.
-Though this was a nice Tmavy overall, I didn’t feel like the malt flavors were as well extracted as that of the best examples of the style.

On tap at the brewpub.
