UPDATED: DEC 21, 2014 Draft... This beer rocks!… Tar-black pour with a miniscule, fleeting, khaki head. The awesome, decadent aroma is a fusion of hazelnut, brownie, caramel and dark-roast coffee. Full-bodied and silky with Key West carbonation. The bittersweet, carbonic flavor boasts Cuban-roast coffee with a shot of delightful hazelnut extract. Black pour, disappearing brown head. Nose is huuuuge hazelnuts, some coffee, but the hazelnut aroma is ridiculous. The taste is hazelnut butter, sweet coffee, chocolate, some coffee liquer. UPDATED: DEC 29, 2013 On tap at Mikkeller Bar SF. Darkest brown with a small lighter brown head. An absolutely ridiculous amount of hazelnut in the aroma! Stunning. Super roasty, chocolatey and nutty taste. Light dark fruit and cherry at the fringes. I read that this was barrel aged; what’s most impressive is how the barrel doesn’t hog the limelight but subtly enhances the beer. Although hazelnuts dominate, everything seems to work in harmony. I thought this was absolutely fantastic.

Clear dark black brown colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, nutty - hazelnuts, warm - burnt hazelnuts, nutella, burnt hazelnuts. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, burnt hazelnuts, milk chocolate. Body is medium o full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bar, Copenhagen. Pitch black colour, not much head. Aroma is nutty, mild roasted malts, some toffee, chocolate and mild coffee as well. Brilliant! Flavour is very similar, nutty and chocolaty with some toffee, leather and roasted notes kicking in. Beautifully balanced. This was probably my favourite beer over the 3,5 hectic days in Copenhagen during the CPH BF 2013.
Draught @ Mikkellerbar, Viktoriagade. Pours black with a small beige head. "The nut is strong in this one!". Aroma is dominated by hazelnut, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, wood, coffee, Taste is medium+ sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium+, texture is thick and oily, carbonation is soft. Finishes sweet and roasted. The hazelnut is evident even before you bring the glass to you nose and took all of my attention so I didn’t really enjoy the beer. It’s almost as if somebody has dropped a bottle with hazelnut essence in the batch. Too much nuttiness for me.
