Draft… Berliner Bash on the Bay 2012… Cloudy, straw-colored ale with some kind of white head. I’m mainly pulling jalapeno pepper out of the aroma - skirted by a trace of cilantro. Medium-bodied and mildly creamy with laid-back carbonation. The flavor presents jalapeno pepper mingling nicely with very nice, citric tartness. Crisp, lightly acidic, clean finish. On tap at the Peg’s Berliner Bash. Served in a mini snifter. Pours a fairly-clear golden color without much of a head. The nose is a bit off from the start. Jalapeno and cilantro somehow just don’t work with a berliner. I kept trying to get past it but really couldn’t. Flavor wasn’t any better. Palate was pretty bad. This is one of the few at the fest that I couldn’t really drink even a sample glass of. Maybe this works for some, but that flavor combination in a beer really wasn’t working for me. jcartamdg (3518) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 22, 2012
pours a hazy gold with no head. Aroma of peppers and parmesean cheese. Taste is all peppers and cilantro, some watermelon in the finish. nice and tart as well. This was a very interesting beer, not expecting everything to work together but it did! Travlr (25745) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAY 22, 2012
Draft at the source. Cloudy yellow color. Aroma of goat cheese and stinky feet. Taste is ricotta, tropical fruit, citrus. Hold your nose. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - MAY 22, 2012
On draft at Peg’s for Berliner Bash 2012. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is a beautiful blend of earthy peppers, cilantro, and watermelon fruit with hints of rind. Flavor is similar- the jalapenos and cilantro really shine through in this one with the watermelon playing a supporting role and hints of rind underneath blend into the pepper and cilantro. Interesting combination of flavors, but it really worked well.

On draft at Berliner Bash, poured a light cloudy straw color, aromas of melon, some light tartness, pepper, and a touch of curd. Flavors are light habanero, followed by some watermelon and cilantro that cuts the spiciness. Interesting berliner, and worth the try. jredmond (8508) - New York, New York, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Draft at Pegs with Linh during the Berliner Bash 2012. Pours a cloudy yellow body with no head. Aroma is chilli peppers and light fruit. Mouthfeel is surprisingly refreshing with notes of watermelon, habernero, weird cheese and other light fruits. GT (10002) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Tap at Peg’s for Berliner Bash. Pours a low haze white with medium carbonation. Super funky bleu cheese nose. Feet, funk like whoa. Taste is tart, cheesy, melony, lemonade, some jalapeno pepper. Very odd. Mild chili pepper spice I’m thinking jalapeno was added. Actually, a lot of the Peg’s Berliner Weisses get a super funky feet smell as they warm, but this one was super funky straight out of the tap. Not bad, but get ready. This is no normal Berliner.
