Sample shared @ RBWG Tampa. Thanks to whoever brought this! Deep brown pour with a small head. Rich toasted grain and dark chocolate. Some singed grass and toasted wood. Flavor is hot, spicy and sweet. Boozy barrel. Some caramel and bitter dark chocolate. Earthy roast. Rich and fat. Oily. Good, straightforward BA impy.

On tap at Peg’s. Originally reviewed 7/24/2011. Jet black body with an ample chocolate head. It dies down a little quickly to a brown ring around the top. Wisps of lace on the surface and as I swirl it around, staining the inside of the glass. Nice. Smells of bourbon, oh my. A second whiff reveals some coconut and strong dark chocolate. More bourbon ensues. Wow. Tastes much like the aroma, only richer. Bourbon with coconut and chocolate at first. A nice, caramel midrange flavor (with bourbon) followed by a rich, dark chocolate creaminess (with bourbon) and a coffee bitterness in the finish (with some bourbon). Loads of bourbon, but somehow it never overwhelms the other flavors. Great body. Thick and chewy, but it isn’t sweet. Hardly any alcohol burn. Perfect for a stout of this caliber. Nearly perfect in every way. One of the best bourbon stouts I’ve ever had. I’m stunned. I was prepared to drink a beer that had been overhyped, but it is delicious.

Pitch black, little brown head. Aroma is really bourbon forward, some slight peatness, loads of cocoa and vanilla. A bit thin mouthfeel. Barrel is almost overpowering. Very nice though

Sample from bottle, huge thanks to Kermis for sharing. Opaque black beer with a nice lasting beige head. Dark chocolate aroma, vanilla, bourbon, licorice, raisin notes, figs, caramel, some tar and cocoa powder. Dark chocolate flavor, bourbon, vanilla notes, raisins, hazelnuts, some warming alcohol, caramel, tar notes, some licorice, and ice coffee. Delicious.

22 oz bottle shared with Gus. The pour is a thinner black with a lighter khaki colored head and a few spots of lace. The aroma is definitely boozy, but it’s held up well. dark chocolate and dark roasted malts fill it. Chocolate and roast really define it. The flavor is a little more lax. This is about at its last hurrah. The chocolate and roast really come through nicely. Nice sweet dark fruits and chocolate. I like it. The mouth feel is a little thin, but well carbonated with a lingering dark fruit and sweet chocolate finish. There is just a hint of booze on the back end.

Pours really dark with very little head. Twirl the glass a few times and an espresso like crema builds up. Aromas of sweet bourbon and licorice. Even som strong licorice powder and cocoa powder mixed. And then more barrel - vanilla, light coconut, almonds and wood juices. Taste is really intense. reminded of a reduced/condenced bcbs.. Pretty intense flavours. Big sweetness but It’s contained by the roast and the barrel. Some bitterness and maybe a wee bit of tartness from the oak. Aftertaste is huge on booze drenched chocolate cake. This is big. Like it a lot. - thanks to A.Curtis for this one - along with all the other great stuff you hooked us up with! Cheers boss!
