Sample provided by kermis, cheers Chris! Black colour, beige-brown head. Aroma of fudge, chocolate, whisky, booze, brown sugar, rhum, coffee. Flavour is boozy, hard-roasted malts, burnt, liquorice, coffee, chocolate brownie, fudge, tar, lots of roast, whisky, bitter finish. Full bodied. Great, would love to try more.

22 oz bottle shared with Gus. The pour is a thinner black with a lighter khaki colored head and a few spots of lace. The aroma is definitely boozy, but it’s held up well. dark chocolate and dark roasted malts fill it. Chocolate and roast really define it. The flavor is a little more lax. This is about at its last hurrah. The chocolate and roast really come through nicely. Nice sweet dark fruits and chocolate. I like it. The mouth feel is a little thin, but well carbonated with a lingering dark fruit and sweet chocolate finish. There is just a hint of booze on the back end.

Pours really dark with very little head. Twirl the glass a few times and an espresso like crema builds up. Aromas of sweet bourbon and licorice. Even som strong licorice powder and cocoa powder mixed. And then more barrel - vanilla, light coconut, almonds and wood juices. Taste is really intense. reminded of a reduced/condenced bcbs.. Pretty intense flavours. Big sweetness but It’s contained by the roast and the barrel. Some bitterness and maybe a wee bit of tartness from the oak. Aftertaste is huge on booze drenched chocolate cake. This is big. Like it a lot. - thanks to A.Curtis for this one - along with all the other great stuff you hooked us up with! Cheers boss!

Mmhm. Pour a pretty dense Black, with a small mocha head. Aroma has coffee, whiskey and sweet finish licorice rght off the bat on the nose. On the palate I straight away get some coconut, bitter chocolate, plenty of barrel, vanilla beans, roasted malts, vanilla flosts. Taste is pretty sweet, but deffinitly has some bitter notes to it. Rather full bodied, with a very suitable flat carbonation. To me, on many levels this is like a condensed version of O.G. bourbon county. Think about it ;)

Poured from a bottle. Aroma is rich with lots of chocolate, both dark and milk. Some light roast notes. Light whiskey with a bit of coconut and almond. Pours black with a medium sized, thick, mocha head that shows really nice retention as it slowly recedes to film that lingers. Light lacing and moderate legs Flavor is moderately sweet with lots of chocolate. Balanced dark chocolate with some lighter milk chocolate. Light roast notes with a touch of leather. Medium bitterness. Light whiskey and oak notes. Some light almond and faint vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and creamy medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a very chocolate forward stout with some light whiskey character. I like this beer as it isn’t too sweet and the alcohol is well hidden.

(Bouteille): Un excellent gateau chocolat avec beaucoup de glaçage bourbon sucré. Du cuir, des noisettes et une vanille profonde s’ajoute à la décadence. Sublime dessert.

My Bottom Line:
Black beans, dark chocolate and roasted bitterness within this rich Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam laces all the way down the impenetrable black.
-Whisky and alcohol heat are clearly identifiable.
-Malts and their residual sugars are well defined and are not dominated by the barrel (which I appreciate).
-This might not be as transcendant as the rum-barrel version, but it’s still an excellent Imperial Stout.

Bottle.
