Poured from a bottle.
Aroma is rich with lots of chocolate, both dark and milk. Some light roast notes. Light whiskey with a bit of coconut and almond.
Pours black with a medium sized, thick, mocha head that shows really nice retention as it slowly recedes to film that lingers. Light lacing and moderate legs
Flavor is moderately sweet with lots of chocolate. Balanced dark chocolate with some lighter milk chocolate. Light roast notes with a touch of leather. Medium bitterness. Light whiskey and oak notes. Some light almond and faint vanilla.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and creamy medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a very chocolate forward stout with some light whiskey character. I like this beer as it isn’t too sweet and the alcohol is well hidden. Marheb (5717) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 22, 2016
(Bouteille): Un excellent gateau chocolat avec beaucoup de glaçage bourbon sucré. Du cuir, des noisettes et une vanille profonde s’ajoute à la décadence. Sublime dessert. MartinT (9852) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 20, 2016
My Bottom Line:DSG (14685) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - FEB 12, 2016
Black beans, dark chocolate and roasted bitterness within this rich Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam laces all the way down the impenetrable black.
-Whisky and alcohol heat are clearly identifiable.
-Malts and their residual sugars are well defined and are not dominated by the barrel (which I appreciate).
-This might not be as transcendant as the rum-barrel version, but it’s still an excellent Imperial Stout.

Tasting at Matt’s, probably bottled before Oct 2014johnnnniee (4285) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 29, 2015
Black color, oily pour, with medium sized brown head. The aroma is less intense than expected, but harmonious; the whiskey is evident; the roasted malts blend with the dark chocolate. Full bodied, with medium sweetness; rich flavor of roasted malts and dark chocolate, dark sour cherries; the whiskey is strong, the liquorice a bit too much, and also some acidity from the dark malts that is not elegant. Short-ish final.
Bottle from MeadMe, thanks for the opportunity!
Pitch black with a frothy creamy bubbly tan head that persists. Roasty chocolate with a hint of licorice and a bit of oak and vanilla. Solid whiskey presence is never harsh. Earthy hop and light pitted fruits round this out nicely. Thick creamy mouthfeel, light level of carbonation, thick body. That’s a very tasty brew right there. jmgreenuk (9326) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - DEC 29, 2015
