Growler shared by Adam. Black pour with a small tan head. Roasted malt, booze, rum, and a touch of vanilla. Coffee, chocolate, and spice. Flavor is spiced rum, alcohol, roasted malt, and chocolate. Decent vanilla, wood, and coffee. A touch bitter on the finish. Sarlacc83 (2290) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 12, 2013
500mL growler thanks to Matt!
A: Thin mocha head with a thick oily black body. Legs from a supermodel.
N: Licorice, burnt wood, raisin, lots of rum and vanilla. Tons of chocolate. Very spicy with lots of sweet cherry notes. A touch of ethanol.
T: Very, very well balanced. Lots of vanilla sweetness with a decent hop bitterness and some charred wood to round it out.
M: Oily and thick. Minor levels of carbonation keep this off the tongue enough so that it remains drinkable.
O: Thoroughly balanced and very enjoyable. It’s composed and well-blended together. Would definitely have this again.

Flip top thanks to Luke! Pours a pure jet black color with some legs, a medium brown head. A big cocoa, rum, ash, char nose. The flavor is huge fudge, oak, sweet hot rum, dark fruit, tobacco, bitter chocolate. The rum adds a bit of a tropical element. Very damn good. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - AUG 10, 2013
Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this beer. Black with a tan head. The aroma has some sweet rum notes as well as some chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is similar. The chocolate and brown sugar notes come through up front, with some roasted malt and cream notes also showing up. Thick mouthfeel and low carbonation. A very nice stout. To celebrate Alfred Klinkby Lukassen. Skål min dreng. Growler. Bottled 21/12-2012. 50cl. Pours black with a creamy head and lacings. Nose is roasted and vinous. Deep sherry like notes. Dark fruit, raisin, chocolate and coffee. Flavor has massive liquorice and wood. Smooth and soft. Tobacco, cellar and a mild acidic touch in the far finish. Had a sample of this the day after I opened the bottle and the barrel complexity was even stronger and overall more mellow and tasty. Less cellar and acid. A really great and complex impy.

(375ml fliptop bottle) oily black body, coats the glass, fine dark tan bubbles. Nose of rum, dark cocoa, complex, brown sugar, oats. Taste of rum, brown sugar, rich chocolate, no roastiness at all, light alcohol, rich, decadent, awesome. bytemesis (9233) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - AUG 5, 2013
Growler thanks to 50belair!! Pours opaque black with a medium creamy dark brown head that dissipates leaving great lacing. Aroma is rum, dark roast, molasses, figs, vanilla. Flavor is the same, light plus sweet, light bitter, a touch of astringence and a bit of coffee. Finish is warming and rummy. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Pretty nice beer. callmemickey (4561) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 4, 2013
Pitch black body, thin khaki head, minimal lacing. Rich chocolate, light roast, some wood, and rum-fruitiness throughout. Full bodied, coats the tongue, gentle carbonation, a bit of heat, rich. Nice, but nothing like the RareDOS from a few years back. dctriman (60) - USA - JUL 31, 2013
Not my favorite. Preferred Rare to this. Not sure I like the rum barrel aging. Love whiskey/bourbon barrel stuff, but this is my first rum barrel aged beer. Worth a try wisdomsolo (472) - St Petersburg, Florida, USA - JUL 19, 2013
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2013 Draft at Peg’s. Dark opaque brown with bourbon notes in the nose. Nice smooth, full palate and probably one of the best Barrell Aged beers I’ve had. Not too much of a harsh liquor kick make this VERY enjoyable.
