Growler. Black, tan head that fades away. Nose is rum, wet wood, cocoa. Taste is rum, light wood, vanilla, chocolate. Heat and even a little funk as it warms. Nothing takes over, everything balanced perfectly. Smooth mouthfeel. spdyfire83 (35) - 5280, Colorado, USA - JUL 2, 2012
Growler to CBC taster. Enjoyed on 11 May 2012. Thanks for this RareR tasty brew Johndoe8! Looks like the abyss of black. Thin layer of soft mocha bubbles for a head. Thick motor oil consistency. Smells of rum, sweet caramel, dark chocolate, and vanilla. Beautiful nose and quite inviting! Taste is complex and deep. Follows nose closely, but the rum is a bit more muted. Not too sweet - the vanilla balances the dark chocolate and caramel nicely. Notes of coconut and oak add to the enjoyable complexity of this beer and everything is intertwined to perfection. Thick and coating, but very smooth. Simply put...this beer is amazing! I’ll leave it at that. Huhzubendah (3705) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 17, 2012
Growler shared by drabmuh. Hell yeah! Thanks Matt.
I don’t have a Peg’s glass like the other guys, but they let me have some anyhow.
The beer is dark brown with a small and fleeting beige head. The aroma brings a huge dose of bourbon, followed by some vanilla, oak, roast and chocolate. The flavor is simply fabulous. World class. Well balanced and just teeming with flavor. I am getting much more bourbon flavor than rum. Perhaps dark rum adds some molasses and dark fruit flavors. Complex, wonderful, sippable, chuggable. What can I say? A+

Growler from my favorite trader Hopscotch. Thanks a bunch for this World class treat! Pours opaque black with a creamy dense brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted malt and biscuits. Light marzipan mixed with chocolate and light licorice notes. Absolutely full flavoured! Loads of sweet licorice, chocolate and roasted malt. Sweet dark ripe fruit, coconut and berries from the rum barrel. This is simply fantastic!!!

Shared bottle with Timfoolery. This beer blew me out of the water. Maybe I haven’t had a good beer in awhile, but it was amazing. Tasted of rum, toffee and some coffee notes. I could tell right from the aroma it was going to be good. Sweet malty goodness that went down way to fast. Where can I get another bottle???

Draft… This beer rocks!… Pours pitch black with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. Fantastic retention. The lush aroma is an intoxicating swirl of cocoa, pouch tobacco, coconut, brown sugar and caramel. Full-bodied and velvety with soft carbonation. The flavor offers a mélange of molasses, vanilla, charred oak, dark rum and coconut. Lots of “sweet" here; just a touch of “bitter.” World class effort by Doug! ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - JAN 17, 2013
500ml, swing-top growler courtesy of newcigarz. thanks, tony! pours an impressive and imposing slick, dense black capped by a rich, creamy, dark mocha head that leaves heavy sheets of lace that stain the edges of the glass. aroma is incredible with huge notes of chocolate brownies, mocha coffee, truffles, caramel corn, and sweet vanilla backed by rich barrel notes, ash, smokey rum, spices, and dark fruit skins. flavor is sublimely delicious with huge notes of devil’s food cake, buttercream icing, toffee, and mocha espresso backed by rich, rum soaked figs, raisins, and plums followed by heavy vanilla, toasted barrel, coconut, and a touch of red wine. palate is reminiscent of the other great FL imperial stouts with a dense, thick, motor oil texture that coats the mouth and finishes with sweet cocoa, rum, and dark fruits. overall, a truly world class imperial stout that definitely lives up to the hype. Growler shared at The Stout Tasting Part I, London - enormous thanks to Jack for procuring this beer. Pours black-brown with a fine, creamy beige head. Some dark fruits in the nose, licorice, dark chocolate. Big sweet flavor with rich dark fruits, raisins, sweet dark bread, silky chocolate. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with lusty dark fruits, figs, dark chocolate, raisins, brownies. Great balance, super drinkable. Seriously, the beer is just outrageously good overall. Outstanding. timfoolery (1126) - California, USA - FEB 6, 2013
Bottle from newcigarz. Thanks man. Aroma is buttered rum, toffee, candied pecans, cocoa, and black licorice. Flavor has most of the above with some medium roast coffee notes and some slight bittering hops. Palate is amazing, considering the richness of this brew, and really opens up in the middle to showcase its components. Finishes cleanly with narrowing aftertaste. Stellar beer.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar. Distinct vanilla and cigarbox aroma. Black colour. Small stable dark brown head. The flavour is also of good vanilla, quite smooth and creamy. Some smoke in the finish. Late burn, more like alcohol than hops. Flavourful, but well-balanced and very smooth.
