500ml, swing-top growler courtesy of newcigarz. thanks, tony! pours an impressive and imposing slick, dense black capped by a rich, creamy, dark mocha head that leaves heavy sheets of lace that stain the edges of the glass. aroma is incredible with huge notes of chocolate brownies, mocha coffee, truffles, caramel corn, and sweet vanilla backed by rich barrel notes, ash, smokey rum, spices, and dark fruit skins. flavor is sublimely delicious with huge notes of devil’s food cake, buttercream icing, toffee, and mocha espresso backed by rich, rum soaked figs, raisins, and plums followed by heavy vanilla, toasted barrel, coconut, and a touch of red wine. palate is reminiscent of the other great FL imperial stouts with a dense, thick, motor oil texture that coats the mouth and finishes with sweet cocoa, rum, and dark fruits. overall, a truly world class imperial stout that definitely lives up to the hype.

660 ml bottle, shared by Werckmeister, many thanks! Pours a very dark, nearly black, red-brown with a light red-brown head. The aroma is full with spicy Caribbean rum, oak - very dominant barrel notes - along with roasted malt behind - mild coffee, hints of hazelnut, some dark fruits. Full oily body with a low carbonation, a medium to medium-heavy sweetness, a light bitterness and some noticeable alcohol. The flavor is again full of rum along with molasses, brown sugar, chocolate. Finishes with rum barrel, some vanilla and sweetish roasted malt.

Vintage 2016. black color, small coffee colored head. smells of rum, earthy, licorice, bit boozy, nutty, marzipan, wood. very nice smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes marzipan, coconut, earthy, vanilla, licorice, rum, spices, wood, dried fruits. finishes rather balanced with a light roasty bitterness and notes of rum, vanilla and some coconut. very nice barrel treatment, very smooth to drink, very rum forward though. very nice one but not my kind of imperial stout. barrel notes a bit too dominant. Intensywny aromat - mleczna czekolada, wanilia, taki likier waniliowow-czekoladowy, taka krówka w płynie. No i przede wszystkim rum. Smak słodki - od początku do końca, podbity aromatami beczki. Ciało raczej pełne, wyraziste, ulepkowate, syropowate. Po ogrzaniu niezwykle fajnie się otwiera - wyraźnie czuć organiczne aromaty rumu i ta mleczna czekolada, która się momentami przełamuje, cukier trzcinowy, mega. Zdecydowanie lepsze po ogrzaniu. Bottle at the 10th Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. Dark brown pour with a smallish brown head. Sweet aroma of chocolate and espresso, vanilla and rum barrel notes. Silky and substantial body, big flavor of vanilla and chocolate with the rum barrel accent. Blended together seamlessly.

Draught at the brewery. Pours opaque black with a medium, frothy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is moderate sweet run, chocolate and roast malt, vanilla and figs. Flavor is moderate sweet rum, oak, chocolate and roast malt with vanilla and prunes, and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation. Rating #3000. Bottle shared with ebone1988 for the Koleminer20 turns 3k and Ebone1988 turns 1.6k Bonanza. 22 oz bottle. The pour is a nice black color with a thin ring of medium khaki head and no lace to be found. It’s typical Cycle thin. But it’s great. The aroma is fantastic. There is a beautiful heavy rum, without the alcohol. The barrel is great and the sweet dark fruits just balance wonderfully. The malt has a nice chocolate on the back end that is just lovely. The flavor is great. The bright dark fruits and rum balance the chocolate malts and a hint of charred oak. The balance is amazing. Fruity, chocolatey, nice rum balance, a hint of vanilla... this is spectacular. The mouth feel is the typical Cycle thinness with a great soft carbonation and a lingeringly sweet chocolate, fruity rum on the back with a hint of great char. Fuck me this is good.
