250 ml bottle, poured into leffe chalice. Half a finger head, clear, ruby brown colour. Perfume dominates the aroma, there are some hops there. Tastes of sweet perfumed hops, some malt there. The abv is well hidden. Very smooth mouthfull. A pleasant beer, goes down ok.

Finally filling out my Pelforth trilogy, at least for the ones commonly found around Paris, there’s Pelforth Ambrée. Can’t say I’ve been a huge fan of the other two, but they did the trick when necessary. This one is more of a dirty blonde than an amber, dark gold, okay head, nothing special. Aroma is a murky malty affair of barley and caramel, some nuts, a bit of swampwater. Taste is a chocolate-coffee mash in water, slightly woody, some cooked barley, but very soft. Doesn’t even seem like an amber at all, and not what I was expecting. The worst of the three, actually.

En vacances en France, pourquoi un belge devrait-il boire un produit brésilio-belge; alors qu’il existe de bonnes bières françaises?

Bouteille (Merci, Quack-Duck!): Deep golden to light amber coloured, stable and lacy beige head; caramalt, toasted malt and a tinge of hops in the nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, only light bodied, quite unusual for a beer of 6.0%; short malty and slightly hoppy finish. Drinkable.........

Sweet, very floral. Amber color, beige head, good lace. Sweet, malty, floral, light bitter. Sticky, rather full, almost oily. Well balanced, nice flavors, bit clean. Probably one of those beers that’s underrated here simply because people think "it’sbrewed by Heineken, this must be shit".
