ElDesmadre (3630) - Mikołów, POLAND - JUN 8, 2011
Bottle. Amber colour but quickly dissipating head. Aroma is malty, caramel, spicy fruitiness (resembling coriander), tea. Very nice, taste is slightly worse. Heavy, sweet maltiness, citrusy-spicy, tea, some mandarine and faint banana. Light, slightly astringent bitterness at the back that is a minor flaw. Best one out of the Pelforth bunch.

Den typischen Ambrée Geschmack kann man herausschmecken und es schmeckt mir wirklich nicht schlecht, wegen der milde bleibt es aber dennoch unter meinen Erwartungen. Test vom 21.9.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,9,8,8,10,9 - 9,05

bergstaden (3200) - Røros, NORWAY - OCT 16, 2009
Dark golden with a white head - malty taste with some bitterness - nice and drinkable beer

Calisky (3062) - ALSACE, FRANCE - JUN 21, 2014
Couleur ambrée, légère mousse. Nez leger épicé et malté. Gout leger de caramel et mal. Sans plus

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2005 Pours a tall off-white head on a clear orange brown body. Mild malty and grassy aroma. Sweet malty flavor at first with some bitter hops in the end. Notes of flowers and grass. Refreshing and nice.

Bottle. Pours a light amber (surprise :-) ) colour with an off-white head. Strong sweetish, acidic, fruity aroma - almost candy-like, but not in a yucky artificial way. Flavour is equally sweetish and fruity, but it works a bit better in the aroma than in the flavour. Metallic notes in the finish.

Finally filling out my Pelforth trilogy, at least for the ones commonly found around Paris, there’s Pelforth Ambrée. Can’t say I’ve been a huge fan of the other two, but they did the trick when necessary. This one is more of a dirty blonde than an amber, dark gold, okay head, nothing special. Aroma is a murky malty affair of barley and caramel, some nuts, a bit of swampwater. Taste is a chocolate-coffee mash in water, slightly woody, some cooked barley, but very soft. Doesn’t even seem like an amber at all, and not what I was expecting. The worst of the three, actually.

Bierkrug (2129) - - FEB 13, 2012
250 ml bottle in Ziguinchor, Senegal. Pours a light amber color with an off-white head. Strong sweetish, fruity aroma, candy-like, but not in an artificial way. Flavor is equally sweetish cardboard and fruity, but it works a bit better in the aroma than in the flavor. Metallic notes in the palate. Pretty bland other than the chemicals in it.
