Can bought in Paris. Not much aroma. Nice brown color with small head. Rather okay malty taste with some bitterness.

330 ml can from Mini -Mart in Montmartre in Paris. The beer poured a clear brown color with tan head. The aroma of brown sugar and crystal malts are detected on the nose. The flavor is sweet with some hints of chocolate. The brown ale has a medium body with average carbonation. The ale is best in Paris so far. The finish has more sweetness than necessary.

Review: big 65cl bottle of Pelforth Brune: ABV: 6.5% Coming in a pretty nice looking 65cl bottle with a swing cap The appearance was of a nice enough dark brown colour with ruby red highlights that had a head which reduced dramatically in size. Some decent lacing but overall nothing special to look at. For the aroma I got a sweet initial smell of caramel malts but overall not a whole lot on the nose, very faint and not a lot going on. On Taste got a very smooth drink, very easy to drink, nice mouthfuls, very smooth. Not strong tasting, but did gets hints of caramel and plums and other fruits, but overall, truth be told, I struggled to get any real taste, some malts.not much else, and no presence of hops. Dark chocolate as well. A Coca cola style taste, lots of malts but no alcohol. Very smooth, pleasant and nice to drink, but for me it doesnt taste at all like a beer but more a strong version of coke with added sugar. Bland and disappointing all things considering. Some critics have compared this to an English ale, particularly Newcastle Brown Ale, while some even have found a likeness to porter. For me I just cant see these comparisons at all, yeah perhaps in appearance but definitely not in taste. The Pelforth Brune, for me, is just too sweet, far too sugary, too smooth and flavourless, and nothing at all like an English ale or porter. Disappointing.

Bottle from Rory on his birthday. Pours dark brown, plum pudding aroma. Nice white head which dies quick. Rounded taste, low hopping, chocolate and malt with saison type yeast flavour.

Tasted 6 months past bottles Best Before date: Clear yet intensely dark amber-brown colour, no fizz, laced off-white head; Very intense aromas of rich dates & rye, liquorice, treacle & cough syrup; Medium body, low acidity, noticeable prickliness of the alcohol and some bitter oiliness through finish; Flavours as aromatic-delivery and same huge intensity, with added chocolate malt and cracked black pepper notes. I tasted this some time ago and was not impressed as it was very weak; yet this "extra ageing" develops a lovely and complex richness which is truly worth the wait!

The beer has got a hazy brownish colour with a steady head and medium body. Aroma of malt and bread. Taste of malt, bread, straw, sugar and fruits. Malty finish.

Pours deep brown with cream quickly dying head. Smells heavily of malt. Tastes smooth, malty with sweet Chocolate undertones. OK but far from the best example.

Bouteille 25cl, supermarch lambda...

A rather cool beer I used to drink a lot when I was younger, sixpacks and pizzas were the real deal for a good evening. Quite pronounced caramel aroma for what it worth, and a particular bitterness that tends to be boring after 50cl. Not a great beer but I always found it pleasant to drink. Probably one of the best available everywhere too. Worthy. APPROVED BY TAVERNYS BLACK METAL CREW!
