Bottle from LetsPour.com that I received as a gift. Dark brown in color with a fluffy two finger head that retains very well. Aroma is sweet, roasty, and chocolatey with a citrusy, earthy hop presence. Smells very hoppy, but not in a way that makes me think it will be bitter. Taste caught me a little off guard. Somewhat fruity and sweet, it tastes a little bit like dish soap, and for some reason that doesn’t seem like a bad thing. I didn’t get the hop flavor and bitterness until the aftertaste, but it does pack a small wallop. The finish is dry and lingers, like a bite of unbuttered pumpernickel bread. Intriguing. I find myself quickly going back for another sip to see what else I can taste. Very intricate compared to most of the other BIPA/CDAs I’ve had.

An enjoyable roast and hop aroma. I liked this more than my friend, who declared it to have a charcoal flavor. I do think it has a bit of charcoal but I still mostly liked it. Pretty thick. Fatehunter (2568) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - DEC 14, 2016
Pours a finger of tan head on a black body. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee and a bit of dark chocolate. Taste is milk, almost burnt coffee, nice pine bitterness and dark chocolate. Texture is chewy. IndianaRed (4792) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 27, 2016
On Tap at Growler Guys, Meridian Clear very dark brown with redish edges. Thin light tan head and even sheets of lacing. Lots of roasted malts and fairly biter. Not particularly obnoxious but balanced and smooth for the black IPA. The hop flavors are not particularly fresh west coast style, but work well with the dark malts. Solid bitter dark ale.
