You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout...Bad Santa has arrived. This mysterious dark elixir is filled with complex malt flavors and aromas. The toasted malt and roast character blend seamlessly to the alluring citrus and herbal hop aroma that comes from copious amounts of Ahtanum hops.

Bottle from LetsPour.com that I received as a gift. Dark brown in color with a fluffy two finger head that retains very well. Aroma is sweet, roasty, and chocolatey with a citrusy, earthy hop presence. Smells very hoppy, but not in a way that makes me think it will be bitter. Taste caught me a little off guard. Somewhat fruity and sweet, it tastes a little bit like dish soap, and for some reason that doesnt seem like a bad thing. I didnt get the hop flavor and bitterness until the aftertaste, but it does pack a small wallop. The finish is dry and lingers, like a bite of unbuttered pumpernickel bread. Intriguing. I find myself quickly going back for another sip to see what else I can taste. Very intricate compared to most of the other BIPA/CDAs Ive had.

On Tap at Growler Guys, Meridian Clear very dark brown with redish edges. Thin light tan head and even sheets of lacing. Lots of roasted malts and fairly biter. Not particularly obnoxious but balanced and smooth for the black IPA. The hop flavors are not particularly fresh west coast style, but work well with the dark malts. Solid bitter dark ale.

Poured black as night from 12 oz. bottle. Herbaceous, slightly piney, hoppy, with a nice maltiness on the nose and tastebuds. Mild notes of prunes. Smoooth brew. A good example of a winter ale.

August mahogany colored and topped with a caramel cream head. Feint pine and chocolate mint nose. While the aromas of this beer are fairly restrained, the body is quite roasty for a CDA. Black patent coffee notes infuse the beer with hearty coffee notes. Lighter piny hops at some resin and bitterness. Mild chocolate and pine finish.

12 oz bottle poured. Pours black with a ton of swirl tan head and lace. I planned on pairing this with the movie with the same name, but I dont watch movies anymore. Big toasty malt aroma and flavor. Smokey hint in the finish. Mild vanilla. Nice winter beer here.

Bottle. Dark brown color with about a finger of tan head, light bits of webby lacing. The nose is roast and light chocolate, sweet overall, and hints of pine. Taste is a little bitter, but moderate roast and hops. More floral than pine. Hints of chalkiness... Not bad though. Overall enjoyable CDA.
